Most of us love to keep our watches in pristine condition, but there is a certain charm to a well used, well loved beater watch. I'm quite new to the game so I don't have any with thorough wear on it, but I thought it'd be interesting to see some pics from fellow WIS of your scratched up, dinged up, faded watches!

Can be anything from Rolex to Seiko!

My Glycine Airman 8 is beginning to show its age. I like the flaked paint on the bezel and the bracelet is terrible, so this fraying canvas adds to the beater aesthetic. It was pictures of a Tudor BB36 on the sales forum that made me get mine. His had been very well used and was covered in marks - it looked great! My BB36 has a ways to go.

My invicta pro diver. Got it real cheap, runs well, and is my only 20atm watch. You can't kill this thing, and it being so cheap I don't care if I did. I wear this working in the garden, traveling, swimming/diving, heck even whilst mountainbiking on trails! Still runs within 2 seconds per day

(EDIT: Sorry I read the title as "show us your beater watch", not beat-up, I'll come back when this thing is in multiple pieces b-))

This one went through WWII with my grandfather and is 82 years old

This one is 28 years old - same as my marriage and was the watch I wore when I got married. It is very 90's with some 18K gold plating you can tell is worn on the lugs. Otherwise still looks sharp.

That Elgin looks fantastic! Considering the condition of the case, I'm surprised one can see through the crystal.

Purchased at the PX in 1990. From parachute jumps, to under the sea, to distant lands and war, this Seiko has seen it all. I did also use a G-shock during this period, but this Seiko has seen more.

It finally gave up the ghost a few years back, the dial now can rotate separate from the chapter ring. It's still super clean on the inside.

That should be an easy fix if you want to try to repair it or send it to a watchmaker. I would say don't get rid of it if it tells so many stories!

This watch survived my career as a Fire Protection company service Manager, Fire Academy Fire service instructor and Volunteer Firefighter before I retired it. It still works it just needs a battery, new crystal and a click spring for the bezel. It took a beating over the years. I would love to restore it some day.

I never really cared for the term "beater watch." I know what it means and I guess it is an appropriate term, but whenever I read it or hear it I get the mental image of using a hammer and smashing the crap out of it.

This 1978 Timex Automatic is my most "beat up" watch. I bought it for $5.00 around 10 years or so ago and it was in really bad shape; at least looks wise. The crystal and bezel were a in horribly dirty condition. After a good cleaning and a polishing with my moto tool, it came out pretty good. It just keeps good time and just keeps running and running.
