I have both, and both of them have the SW movement. Newer models have the SW movement in them, but in my experience, the accuracy is excellent.

It really depends on you. The 556 has a satin finish all over, and the 104 has more polished surfaces. If you are worried about scratches, the 556 will likely be more scratch-resistant.

If you really need a countdown bezel, the 104 is the way to go.

Both are great everyday watches and will take anything you throw at them.

My 556 has the white mother of pearl dial so I use it for more dressy occasions, and the 104 serves as an all-purpose (pilot/diver) sports watch.

The 556 is a more understated watch IMO

I don't have the 104, but I do have the EZM 13 (same case, just taller). So I'll speak to why I prefer the 556. It's a better-wearing watch if you're active. The smaller diameter and absence of a rotating bezel mean that it's lighter. It vanishes on the wrist sometimes. I forget that it's there. It's also a more versatile case design that can be dressed up or dressed down whereas the 104 has its more modern, angular case design to contend with. The 104 remains firmly planted in the sports watch realm; the 556 can float around better.

How's the honeymoon phase going?

 

I know I've seen an old thread from 2013 or so, but I can't locate it. Therefore, I'm asking this question again.

I'm looking to purchase my first Sinn. Trying to decide between the 104 or the 556. I am not worried about the 38mm vs the 41mm as either size works for me.

That said I know the 556 has the 2824-2 and the 104 has SW. is there a preference and which watch is better all around?

They are both great choices, and both are much better in person than online. No wrong choice - get both
The 104 should be more versatile because the bezel is so useful. It also looks good in a tux. I don't think I've worn my prior go-to sarb065 since I got my 104 st sa i over 2 years ago.

 

I love both the 104 and 556 although I only own the 104 - the beadblasted matte version. The 104 is larger but doesn’t wear large. And I find it very versatile- I wear with a t-shirt and rubber strap or with its bracelet and a suit.

Having this same battle in my heads they are both great watches, but will the 556 be a smidge to small for me - sadly I cant see on in the flesh before buying and that 104 with blue dial is a looker!
