I'm looking to pick up another Sinn and both the U1 and 857 UTC are under consideration. I've owned the 104 and 856 UTC in the past and thought both fit my 7 1/8" wrist extremely well, but I realize these are both larger models.

My question is two-fold: first, how do the U1 and 857 UTC wear compared to the two smaller models I have previously owned, and secondly how do each wear compared to one another (I imagine the U1 wears a bit larger due to thickness but it would be nice if someone who has owned both could confirm).

Thanks!

I don't have both, but I can offer an observation about one. The 857 covers a fair amount of real estate. My wrist is 7.7" and not too wide or thick. Here is my 857.

Edit: I should say, I don't think it is too big or right on the edge of too big either. I think it would be fine on your wrist.

Thanks, that's a great looking piece.

I actually did go ahead and purchase the 857 UTC today from WatchBuys, so it should arrive tomorrow. I'll post pics once received.

I have both and have a 8" wrist. I prefer the fit of the 857. It's the best combination of size/case in the Sinn lineup for me as an every day watch. I have the U1, the U1000 and the 857. The 857 gets the most wear by far. The U1 pretty much sits in the box, near new.

Received the 857 UTC today - it’s a very nice looking piece and the size, for the most part, seems very wearable. The only thing at this point is there is a slight hot spot for me with the crown digging into the wrist at times. I’ll give it a few days and see how it goes.

I had issues with the crown as well on the bracelet. On a strap, it's perfect. AMD looks better imo. Suits the watch to be on a NATO or a black leather strap. I also wear mine on a Bonetto Cinturini 325 and it looks fantastic.

That's good to hear because if I keep it I'll definitely be picking up some rubber and leather for it.

I really do love the look of this OEM leather but figured it made more sense to buy it on bracelet and pick up the strap afterward:

Both the U1 and the 857 are real chunksters (especially on my weedy wrist) but neither gave me any “crown digging in” problems so it could just be that you’d gone up a size in watch.

I own a U1 Pro and tried on the 857 a couple times. IMO the 857 is more comfortable. It lays flatter on the wrist do to the thinner case back. That being said, a 857S will probably be my next Sinn

Well, as much as I love the aesthetic of the watch, I think I might have to sell it.

It is a pretty comfortable watch, especially given the diameter, but that slight hot spot on the crown I have a feeling will continue to drive me crazy =/
