Hey Everyone,

Recently picked up an SKX009 and I'm looking to do a movement swap, but would like some input from others that have already done this, or have knowledge of it all. I'll post my questions below.

1. Which movement is the better one to go with, the NH35, NH36 or the 4R36 and why?
2. Where is a good source to purchase an actual Seiko movement?
3. Are there any see through case bands that will fit from other Seiko models?

I really appreciate anyone that is able to provide any input to this and I plan on reading up a bunch, plus, watch plenty of videos that cover doing this. Thank you very much in advance!

1. The SKX has a day and date complication, so the correct Seiko movement is the 4R36. This is also sold as the NH36 to other watch manufacturers. They are the same movement. The NH35 has only a date complication.
2. You can buy NH36 movements on eBay. Note that you’ll need a new crown tube as the SKX’s tube will not accommodate the 4R movement. You’ll need to research what that part number is.
3. You mean exhibition case back? I’m not aware of any readily available for the SKX.

Hey, Lee_K. The more I look into this I think I'll be going with the 4R36, as you have mentioned. I'm actually hoping to get the one with the bronze (or goldish) colored rotor, too. Haven't heard about the crown tube change, so thank you for mentioning it and I'll certainly look into it now.

Yes, I am referring to and exhibition caseback. I read somewhere (I believe) that a 5 series exhibition caseback fits the SKX, plus, I like how much of that particular one exposes the movement.

Thanks for commenting!!!

I noticed this one too, but I'm not so sure I like the design. To me, I'd like it to show more of the movement. There was a post I read (I believe on this forum) that the Series 5 exhibition caseback will for the SKX and if so, I'll probably try to grab one of them.

Thank you very much for commenting!!!

Hey, Pallet Spoon. That looks great! Where did you find the yellow rotor, or did you do that yourself?

I really like the idea of polishing off the digits and like the looks of yours. The exhibition feedback that you have is exactly the one I'd like to find for my build. Did you get that at Dagz? Is it from a Series 5 piece?
