For most of my watch collecting life (which isn't that long) I thought that really thin watches would fit me better since I have a thin wrist, but finally realized how much more important lug to lug length was for a good fit for me. So now I've narrowed all my watches down to being under 40mm in diameter. Hopefully other people in the 40 and under club will see some watches they like and might wanna get:

My first watch: Bulova Dress Watch
Pretty basic quartz dress watch

Seiko 5 Snk793

From this watch on I never bought a quartz watch. Really got me to appreciate movements.

Vintage Luch
This was reworked by Werk who has posted on the forums awhile ago. He does some really exceptional work you should check out.

Good to see another person with 'athletic' wrists! I particularly like the Luch.

Thanks! I like the word "athletic" rather than "skinny" :-d

I also suffer from the athletic wrist syndrome.
What bothered me, aside from the diameter and lug to lug size, is the length of the standard straps that comes with the watches I bought.
The long end of the strap would prominently stick out on the other side of my wrist.
For most watches with leather strap, the first order of business has always been replacing the strap.
So I have been spending a small fortune buying short length straps.

At least half of my watches are under 40mm. I love vintage for this reason, and that Luch ultra-thin is a dazzler. Here is a small sampling of some favorites and recent finds:

Latest two in the family: this GuB cal.69.1 (36mm) and 1970 Doxa (34mm)

Poljot DeLuxe ultra thin cal. 2209 (same as your lovely Luch)

38mm Orient "Sky"

Much loved 1958 first year Royal Orient (36mm)

I could go on and on, but I'll stop with the one it all started with in 1978, this 38mm Bucherer

I've been looking for a better description of my wrists than "weedy" or "skinny" but I never thought of "athletic"

OP - your collection looks great

How did the 556i wear on your wrist? It's a watch that has always been on my 'want' list.

The 556i is a great watch, it just didn't fit me right. It wasn't too big or too thick. My advice would be to get it on a bracelet as I think I would've kept it if I had.
