Hi All,

I am new to the forum, hope you can help, i have purchased a Smiths Astral 17 jewel on the bay, its was not expensive.

I have a few of these two are Made in England a Smiths Deluxe and another Astral, the other Smith was Made in GT Britain (Wales)

This one i just liked the look of its a Smiths Astral 17 jewel made in England ( the second hand is missing ) it keeps good time. ill add some pictures.

On to my questions, can i you get a second hand for the watch easily? & what date do you think the watch is perhaps 1950s 1960s or 1970s

Welcome to the Vintage forum. Looks like a 1950s watch. These Astrals should have one of the better movements used by Smiths, the Cal. 27 in its central second version (Cal. 27.CS). Here is the ordinary subseconds movement:

If you are looking for an exact match for the original seconds hand, it may get difficult but if small deviations in style are acceptable, a decent watchmaker may well not have too many problems.
