Hi all,

I am new to Smiths watches i have got a couple, This Watch went for allot of cash on Ebay, any idea why, as similar Smiths watches have gone for a fraction of that prices.

( Re bay could it be a fake? ) having said that some of the buy it nows on the bay are very expensive.

Not that I have any idea of how abundant were Dennison Aquatite-cased Smiths watches, but I guess that these prices have much to do with the fact, that the Aquatite cases have been used in British military watches since the mid-1950s. The Dennison Aquatite itself was introduced somewhere in the early 1950s ('51 or '52, can't remember). Also, a Smiths watch with such a case was worn by Edmund Hillary on Mt. Everest- Smiths used this in their adverts for quite a long time. Hence the name of the Smiths Everest line of watches...
