Hey everyone !! I bought my first automatic watch a Smiths PRS-25 EXP and received it yesterday, after waiting a day to make sure the movement is running within specs, I just noticed that the crystal above is uneven, is it something that can happen? Will it affect the watch long term? Is it a deal breaker? Should I return it?Thanks
One up.Definately return it. If the crystal is not seated properly then it could fall out. The water sealing of the crystal gasket will be suspect. It requires the crystal being removed and reseated using a new gasket. This means taking the movement out. Not a difficult job with the right tools but time consuming.
Did you end up sending it back? Both of my Smiths the crystals were perfect, that's pretty far off.Hey everyone !! The PRS-35 looks great, in my opinion, but it doesn't have lume (I guess the trans-global doesn't either). I do like that design but I think I like the Trans-global better, and I think the Trans-global has a few nice to have features as well, like the greater WR and better magnetic resistance. I have the ice blue Trans-global, I think they'll have more cream ones later in the year. They've been releasing versions of the Everest the past few months and that tends to eat up most of the 200 order allotment, if I had to take a guess.I tried ordering one - lol - didn't know you had to be on the computer the minute they opened. The watch I was looking to buy is the trans global.
I noticed that it says
Aventurine, Black, Cream and Salmon dial versions now Sold Out.
Does this mean that when they open on Sunday at 2pm UK time that you can't order any of these colours? These are permanently sold out? Thanks. I am only interested in the Black, Cream, and was interested in Salmon.
I went to Vario for my Salmon Art Deco watch. I got the last one of a limited run - no more left. Sometimes you have to look for other brands.

I think the Smiths offers more for the money than Vario but Miyota 9039, 24 jewel automatic, 28,800 BPH versus Seiko NH38A Automatic ($348US) 24 jewel automatic, 21,600 BPH but they're different sorts of watches.
For the Smith Experts - my mom found a Smiths in my Dad's things from at least 50-60 years ago. It is has the separate second dial and says 15 jewels - Would it be worth anything. My mom is Welsh and I think it uses Welsh Gold. I am going home in April to see it - is it worth taking to a watch place to have it brought back to life.
Lastly, I see the Smiths Vintage PRS-35 in stock - it costs a bit more but I am wondering why it is not "sold out" - is there a reason there seems to be no love for that model? Looks nice and similar dial design to the classic one my mom found. TIMEFACTORS | SMITHS VINTAGE PRS-35
