Are there any watches out there that, when looked at from the side, have a smooth transition from case to domed crystal? What I mean is a watch where in the crystal is not surrounded by a bezel or lip of any kind.

My PerpetuaL R-01 has a sapphire that impressively matches the curve of the bezel.

It's a great question. I have two that fit the bill (pun intended); firstly the Max Bill..




And then an old 1959 Smiths De Luxe that I picked up a couple of months ago:



Bottom line: there were many watches in the 1950s and 1960s that had that smooth transition. But now in this age of sapphire glass, they're few and far between.

These look awesome. Thanks for the replies. They are a clear change in direction from my mostly diver collection but I'm becoming more and more drawn to this simpler style.

I especially like that Junghans. I think a Bauhaus is in my near future.
