..upon reset the chrono second hand randomly hits it's mark, and often 'free wheels', like there's no friction left (of the chrono sec hand hole is worn). I took it apart and pushed the chrono sec hand down a bit, but it still resets randomly; thoughts? Is something in the reset mechanism worn ? Does this have to go back to Sinn for servicing, or is there anyone in the States worth trying? TIA!

a good watchmaker with lemania experience should be able to help out...

I've had numerous L5100's and had no problems finding someone to work on them: parts are available.

Sounds like you are into mechanical issues and this could range from a common adjustment to complex diagnosis and part replacement. Make sure it makes it to a certified professional if you do not send it back to Sinn. One way to find certified watchmakers is through the www.awci.com Left hand column there is a button "Find watch and Clock repair stores in your area".
