If you don't have strong natural light, here is a clever solution.

G-SHOCK - East Coast Radek Solar Charging Station

I am tickled that Radek went to so much effort. You can tell he is a dedicated collector.

If this has been posted before, I apologize. BTW, he has a YouTube channel dedicated to G-Shock collecting.

I know sometimes people do things just because they can - but I don't get it. The solar watches I've got, I got them precisely because I don't want to have to go to some palaver like this.

I just keep them in rooms that get some light, and try and wear them at various times. Surely there's a way of keeping them in some sort of display case, in a normal room, so they get some light - be it normal daylight, or normally used artificial light?

I have a different issue with several Seiko Kinetics I've got - but that is a different thing, really - they (normally) require movement - and that in itself, causes wear and tear. So I've got a Seiko induction charger for them - but still, I don't always have the time to remember to use it.

I think it's cool, but it doesn't make sense to use artificial light because it simply isn't as effective as sunlight, just read any solar Gs manual and the time it takes to charge with artificial light vs sunlight is a very big gap. Nonetheless, his creative mind is cool.

See now, that I like!

Is that one of those little shower dofers that has suckers to stick on a tiled wall?

Great idea!
That's exactly what it is... :-!

lol. A pair of CFL's comparable to the sun? I don't think so.

And since light falls off as the square of the distance (inverse square law), he'd get better results with the bulbs and reflectors much closer to the watches.

Pretty humorous, though. :-d

Yes, looks cool but honestly - charging solar watches with artificial light which you only turn on to charge them - I think I'd rather buy standard battery models then. It kind of contradicts the whole idea of solar watches.
Exactly!

If the bulbs and reflectors were much closer to the watches, then the watches would get even hotter, requiring even more electricity to run even more fans (or bigger fans, or more AND bigger fans) and...and....

I haven't decided whether I should laugh or facepalm over this one. :-d

CFLs typically don't run all that hot. Certainly not like incandescents. Maybe he should try LED lamps. Cooler, and even more efficient.

Although still not as efficient as the sun...ahem. :-d
