Squale, Italian French for shark, hailed from a small familiar Italian company located in Milan that has been producing watch parts for watch companies since 1946. Since the 1960’s, Squale was a name that is known for being one of the top manufacturers of dive watches. Evidently, they produced cases for many brands like Tag Heuer, Blancpain and Doxa. Squale continued to produce for other brands and has begun providing watches in a non-official way to special corps of many armies including the paratroopers of the Folgore Italian Sub The Carabinieri, and the division of the Italian Navy.

Their watches are not only well-designed aesthetically but further bringing out some ingenious innovations in them. So, they are deep in watch making history. In 1967 this small factory is associated with The Neuchâtel Von Büren SA. From 1967 to 1974 Squale dedicated themselves to the supply of cases and watch components together with C. Von Buren to numerus independent Swiss brands. In the 70's Squale introduced the first 1000 meters diver watch with sapphire crystal and with a revolutionary bezel that will only move under elastic pressure, rotating in both directions. The relaunch of The Squale brand in February 2010 and its new production in Grenchen in the Swiss Jura valley portend an exciting future for the brand.

Though not much has been changed, in recent years there have been a few improvements in the case construction and finishing through the use of modern-day machinery and technology. However, the quintessential skin-diver looks from their archives stayed the same, giving watch enthusiasts much enjoyment of a retro-vibe, sturdy and reliable dive watch. It is a professional diving watch with the famous and characteristic "von Büren" case. This is a real classic diver with great details like the acid etched, screw-in case back and the signed "VON" screw-down crown referring to the founder of the Squale brand "von Büren S.A. / Montres" (Neuchâtel ,Schweiz). The 316L stainless steel case has a black PVD finish and it is a modern 42mm x 14mm size for a nice presence on your wrist. The black lacquered dial features SuperLuminova treated luminescent hour markers and hands.
