For sale is my Tudor Submariner Reference 79090. Serial B406731. These are the 80's - 90's subs, the last of the plexi crystals before they switched to sapphire in the reference 79190.
service:
I have owned it for about 2 months, had it checked by Orr's Jewelers in Sewickley, PA. Their service manager Jim is a Rolex-trained watchmaker and the only person I let work on my watches. Since the crystal was scuffed, I had him install a T19 service dome, no-cyclops. The watch was oiled, adjusted, all gaskets replaced, and a replacement crown was installed when the original one cracked upon removal. I will include all removed parts in the sale, as well as the service receipt from January 2016.
watch head:
The watch case has been polished in the past, but you can see the edges are sharp and not rounded. the lugs are thick and retain a good profile.
the bezel and crown are excellent. the bezel insert has some light scratches, and is the correct mid-fat font version with a nicely darkened tritium pearl.
new shoulderless spring bars were installed.
the caseback is excellent with the 79090 sticker present
the dial is excellent matte black with puffy tritium plots that have developed a pleasing eggshell color. they do not show the typical spotting of this era.
the hands are original and the tritium is thinning (as is common). the second hand lume has a hole in it, which shows it's originality.
watch bracelet:
I believe the bracelet is an original 9315 version with little stretch, but since the 9315 stamped endlink is not present, I cannot guarantee authenticity. The correct flip-lock clasp is there, as are the correct 380B stamped endlinks. sat next to my 2 other 9315 bracelets, I cannot find a single difference, which is why I believe it to be original.
accessories:
no box or papers other than the recent service receipt are included.
to follow in Bernhard Bulang's model, i've decided to make this a curated package. Along with the watch head and bracelet, I'm including a brown Horween chromexcel 20mm strap, a set of Happy Bead bracelets, a matching brown Horween Corter Leather standard card wallet, and a Machine Era Co. bottle opener.
references:
the only watch I have bought on here was a Tudor Big Block from user birdietom. otherwise, I have a perfect seller history on ebay under the username itschummertime.
price:
I am pricing this package at $3,399 US OBO with registered, insured USPS delivery and paypal fees included. I only offer returns within 48 hours of receipt if watch head is not authentic Tudor. I may consider full/partial trades depending on what you have. I'm interested in tri-color Zeniths, plexi Sinn chronos, applied-logo SMPs, or something similar with 20mm lug width and 36-42mm case.
CONUS buyers with verified Paypal addresses only please.
Any questions, PM me here. Thank you for your consideration.
