Morning/afternoon/evening all!!

First time poster on the site, but i've been a regular visitor for over a year.

At the time of my first visit to the site a year ago, I was living in Cyprus away from my English home, in a failing relationship, and in a dire financial situation.

Despite not owning a watch, I came across this site. Immediately I was in awe of the knowledge, and passion of the people on here...and not only that...in awe of your beautiful possessions whether they were bought for £10, or £10,000.

It gave me something to aim for, and I swore id get myself on my feet and the first thing id treat myself to was a watch.

Just wanted to show my appreciation to the community....gave me focus during a time when their seemed none.

Anyway....I bought my first watch....a very natty Smiths PRS-36 (I've used a previous posters photo, hope he doesnt mind). Its beautiful, and fits my skinny wrists wonderfully.

However, I think I may have made the purchase because I previously worked as a rep and wore suits everyday, and therefore the style suited.

I've since pulled the trigger on an impulse buy for the following Hamilton Khaki Action automatic from the mid 2000s from what I gather. I have 6 and a half inch wrists, so they both suit with the Smiths sitting slightly larger because of the shape.

(Apologies for the lack of detail, that will come with knowledge...)

Welcome. I'd say your story is more unique most people have the opposite fortune when they come here lol, it can be financially crippling.

The Smiths if fairly elegant and simple, but not extremely fancy. A real business suit watch to me. The Hamilton would likely be most recommended to keep here and would be my choice. A little more versatile and very good quality movement and bracelet. Careful with those impulse buys.

I'll likely differ from the expected throng of Hamilton voters, but I really like the Smiths. I think they succeeded at making a modern take on a vintage cushion case. Very interesting stying. That is not my favorite Khaki with that crown guard and ungainly looking case, (although I like the dial better than most Khakis). Also, that Hamilton is about due for a service if it hasn't had one and that could be an unwelcome surprise.

If you don't mind winding the Smiths everyday, it would be my choice.
