Uh oh!

I hadn't been tempted by anything from Omega at Basel until I saw that Apollo XV. I do like the dial, hands, markers and bezel but everyone knows how I feel about "non-display backs". What appears to be a "gold and gray" motif is nice however. |>

But why an Apollo XV commemorative? Obviously this is the 35th anniversary of the the mission. Not such a big deal but then I remembered seeing an interview with Gene Cernan a year or so ago when he was doing an Omega tour with a mockup of the Lunar rover. Bingo! The rover was first used on the Apollo XV mission. So this watch is to commemorate the first use of the Lunar rover? OK I guess, but I think my PW2 commemorative will be more astrologically and horologically significant.

But I do like the "gold and gray"! Maybe that will be a future PW? ;-)

Thanks for all the photos BTW. The only thing worse on those bejeweled PO's would have been a Rolex leopard skin strap. I'm just glad Rolex did it first else Bienne may have tried it. :-D

Wow, thanks very much for sharing! Some really interesting new models.

Who would have thought that this great 70s design would reemerge?!?!

Seamaster pics borrowed from Chuck.

Good stuff, John. I have to admit, I think the gold on graphite looks pretty sharp, too.

Percy, I forgot, but it was interesting to see the black Planet Ocean has got orange numbers too, as an option :-!

Thanks for sharing pcs :-!
I dislike some models in here:
-jewellery PO
-jewellery Rattrapante Deville Coax
Some models who are greatly designed but with which I have movement doubts:
the P0 chrono , the speedy rattrapante and Deville Coax rattrapante
Some models that I consider as ununderstandable: the speedy date with dial colors of vintage seamaster models and the chrono zl32 which is meant for regates but I don't like pushers at the left and the barely legible configuration.
I prefer vintage models to all what I have seen here, sorry but that is my opinion.

regards

Hey, guys and gals!

Don't place any orders until you see PW2. ;-)

PW2 will be a true commemorative although the anniversary date will not end in a "5" or "0".

And I assure you, it will not have a "non-display back".

Reviving a thread 5 years 5 months old, that must be a new WUS record.
