Isthmus came over this afternoon to have me play with some Seikos for him. We started with five, and four nice ones were left at the end.

The whole purpose was to make the orange dialed Doxa-type. We swapped out the chapter ring, dial, hands, a bezel from a Tuna, and put in black date and day wheels. It came out very, very nice. Much better than we were expecting.

It took a lot of time, a six-pack, two pizzas, and some patience. I haven't worked on any Seikos before, but after the first two I got the hang of it

I know he's got some more pictures of the process.

First is what we started with:

That would be the custom made 6309-7040 we built. The others were more restoration and part mods. The parts used on the orange one are as follows:

- The dial was custom made by a SCWF forum member;
- The case and movement is from a 6309-7040;
- The hands came from Bill Yao;
- The insert is from an SS Tuna (300m);
- The day and date wheels came out of an Italian market vintage 6119 and are in Italian & English; and
- The strap came from
WATCHBANDCENTER out of Germany. They come in 14mm - 24mm, and in a few other color combinations (though not all colors are available in all sizes). The strap is thick layered leather. The buckle is a little thin for my taste, but it's tongue is made to fit the narrow adjustment slots. Make sure to follow up your online order with e-mails clarifying your address, since the fields in their ordering software are not perfectly set for US addresses.
