carrot,

Sorry to hear it. Are they going to ship you another one?

Try to have a good day anyway! (even though it will be difficult)

Ah with the thread title, i expected worse! I thought you bought it and they shipped it to someone else! Like the wrong address or something! Hope they gave you your money back. Maybe best to order it from elsewhere.

How do you know that is what happened?
Because they told me. They admitted there is a 'disconnect' in terms of time between their online sales and shop stock. So if there is only one of something then there is a risk the shop will sell it before they realise it has already been allocated to an online customer. Pity as I was punching the air when I thought I'd got one! Anyway expect they will get more in (eventually) so not making too much of a fuss as hope to buy one from them then.

I worked in a library for some time while still at university and it was the same there - if someone borrowed a book while in the library and someone wanted to borrow it online - the online reservation was cancelled. However stock was updated once the book was scanned. So you only got unlucky when you reserved a book but hadn't already picked it up. They probably should have taken the watch out of the display as soon as it was sold online - well, mistakes happen and there's quite a lot of stores doing business online that have no "real-time" stock-update.

cheers, Sedi :)
