39mm, stainless cases. Caseback shows 100m WR. The black DLC is strongly tempting me; the dial's more intriguing. Not that the sunray blue is bad, by any means.

Slight quibble: full-stitch gator isn't my first choice for strap material here, especially on the DLC with that vertical-striped dial.

You got an 0100, so...yeah. I don't need it either, but that rarely stops me... :)

I'm leaning to this even more than the washi dials.

Maybe this is what is the future of the 5 s/y movements, more LEs?
I suppose, but wouldn't it make more sense to make the more exotic, higher end model the LEs? And I'm not in the mood to check, but it sure seems like they've actually been focused on limited versions...to the point where 'limited' is largely meaningless, unless these are selling MUCH faster than I'd suspect.

My earlier thought was that these were something of a trial run for sport/GADA models, rather than more strictly dress, and in the slightly larger case than most of the A060's. Or maybe that these will have a Western market orientation...size, DLC, sporty?

But honestly, Citizen's marketing strategy has always seemed disorganized.

The watch face has a more sporty look, but leather straps are anything but sporty IMO. Put these on a decent looking bracelet and you may have something, but as is they look somewhat disjointed somewhere between dress and sport.

Odd...strikes me that they're trying to push out spare cases and don't have enough bracelets to go with them. Maybe clearing parts inventory for regular production 0100?

The big watch trend is already fading (thank goodness). Casio's most successful launch of the year is their GA-2100 which is actually their thinnest G Shock.

I don't have a problem with leather for this style; I do have a problem with it being gator/croc. That's the mismatch. Yeah, it's in between, but sport-dress is a class as well. Or, call it GADA. There's no real clarity to those type labels...but the look of croc/gator doesn't match the general look of the watch head, and that's the issue for me.

With the DLC, you'd have to do a DLC bracelet. Buyers tend to be leery, cuz they're more likely to wear. If a more outdoorsy orientation is expected...sailcloth, carbon fiber, good rubber (a la my Aqua Terra). For leather, I'd go a buffalo, kangaroo, Horween Derby, or the like. Fin's got a 4 mm bull leather strap that might be a bit too thick, but could work. Stingray would be very cool.

I like the case shape, but the sporty chunky hands and the numbers in the chapter ring does not belong in the Chronomaster line for me. And the seconds hand tip? Noo... Trying to compete with GS sbgv245 perhaps? I guess that all off you who wants The Citizen to make a diver or sportier watches is getting closer to your wish!

Anyone know the prices of these new Chronomasters?
Long as you have Google or something based on Chrome to do auto translate...go to citizen.jp. MSRP is 330K for black, 300K for blue. Yen, of course. That said, the various online stores are quoting some rather different prices. Honestly, just search by model number ("citizen aq4054-01e"). Or try dropping a line to Higuchi or Seiya.

I think the eco-drive feature will re-ignite interest in the Chronomaster line. Maybe they'll reissue the older designs with eco-drive. That would be sweet!

There is already quite a range of eco-drives in the Chronomaster line.
