This morning I was shocked to hear a squeak coming from the watch when it was on my wrist. It goes without saying it has to go in to Rolex, I would guess it's the rotor? Right terminology?

I would be courious to what anybody else thinks.

My bracelet squeeks after I give it a wash.

Yep, I'm sure it's not the braclet, I wish it was, in fact that's what it first sounded like but it's inside the watch.

It's definitly not the bracelet. Anybody have an idea what it could be?

Well, that's a pretty strong statement....... but take the bracelet off and rotate the watch head around and give it a couple of shakes.... just to be sure...

The only moving parts in your watch, outside the actual drivetrain and escapement that would squeak all the time; is the self wind module..

Sometimes the hole jewel that the rotor axle rides in gets broken and the rotor will spin off-center. It usually manifests itself as a knocking noise as the rotor wobbles and hits the edges... but I suppose it could squeak... again, it would only do that when you rotate the watch and the rotor spins..

Re: Squeaking GMT II, 2

What do you mean squeaking? You mean the movement is making a squeaking sound?

Yes, every time the watch changes position on my wrist, just normal movement.

I know you said it wasn't, but my guess is that, yes, is the bracelet...

Try putting the watch on a strap and see if the watch still makes the noise. Out side of that it may be the rotor, or the wheels in the winding system that are need of attention. Does it make any squeaking sound when hand wound?

Re: Squeaking GMT II, 2

After you change bracelets (if you do that) it's time to take it in for servicing. Squeaking cannot be good. I'd do it before the squeaking becomes an expensive repair.

It's going to Rolex today, guess it will be the Christmas present to myself.
I don't feel at all good about just waiting to see what would happen with continued wear so in it goes...it louder this AM.

Sqeaky GMTII-3

It's off to Rolex so it will be interesting. I also asked bout having the case back
replaced, because it's engraved and they told me they could but they would not return the original because of the possibility of counterfeiting.

Didn't know that. Is it correct?

Re: Sqeaky GMTII-3

In the US, Rolex policy is to not return any replaced parts.......
Thank you, I did learn something.
