hi, i need a dress watch that's simplistic and at the same time fun (i'm pretty obsessed with mechanics, i spend a lot of my time doing circuit work for fun as well), and i was contemplating getting a longines silver arrow

then, i looked at the stowa mo white arabic/roman (don't really know which to get, arabic: classic, roman: looks nicer, fits the tone of the watch, really well as a dress watch and both can go well with collared shirts)

now i've found out that the waiting time for receiving a stowa is extremely long, so i'm willing to wait, but then the durowe movement is coming out at the end of this year.

even though it's a modified unitas, it sounds interesting and unique to have something tailored to run in the marine original, especially since schauer owns both of them it seems a bit "in house."

should i wait for the durowe movement version, and should i pay that extra 300 euros or so for it? i don't really know if it's worth it as i'm a bit new to watches.

Well you mentioned that you're new to watches.

Its always nice to take your time over that first watch and get something that you'd really like which will stay in the collection as that special "first watch". On that basis, I'd wait for the durowe.

The subsequent purchases tend to come thick and fast afterwards, so maybe the long wait for the durowe will also help to delay the onset of bancrupcy!

If the price-difference is irrelevant for you, wait for "Durowe".
I'd take a version with Unitas. For the rest I could buy another Stowa :)

I think, that the question should be: How much "Durowe" this "Unitas" is?

Well, this issue has been pretty much covered by another thread here

......You made some valid points. However you must look at the Durowe 7440 to be an ongoing experimental project ( I am tempted to compare it with the development of the A-35 Damasko in-house movement). You have to start somewhere and you will end up somewhere. And Jörg already phrased it that way:

Aim:
A permanent increase in the value added by manufacturing
additional parts such as screws, jewels, locking mechanisms,
precision adjustments, etc. in Germany, possibly culminating
in the manufacture of movement blanks.

The Durowe 7740 is still a "vision" to be transferred into reality. Future will tell what the Durowe 7440 is about......

rats, it sounds like the stowas caught my eye right when schauer's about to launch durowe movements back, so i'll probably have to wait around a year until his durowe marine originals are released.

it seems like the durowe is more attractive, but for the same price i guess could also get an antea creme or something
