Hello everybody,

STOWA is now joining the TEMPUS ARTE Group.
Tempus Arte GmbH & Co. KG ist neuer Inhaber der STOWA GmbH Co. KG

The english press release will be launched beginning of next week.

The german press release you can read here.

It was a important step to be keep the huge success of STOWA.

The Tempus Arte Group contains different Brands and together we can have a lot of synergies.

I look forward for the future and we at STOWA also will give our support to the Group Members.

Don´t worry, STOWA will keep its way ;-)

Bye for now

Jörg Schauer
CEO of STOWA Brand

The Press Release was planed to bring this news without having rumors around.
But - like it is sometimes - we had a leak.
;-)

But no problem, you never can changes things when they have happened.
So it was just a matter of time and someone was faster than us ;-)

Additonal information: I still will be the CEO and i try to keep the success :)

Makes me think that this might be similar to what the Stas' did when they sold Frederique Constant to Citizen...but here, hey, the umbrella group is all German brands.

This may work out just fine.

Is this like a buyout? Or just some type of federation? Or more of a Swatch-Group type of set up?

Also, will this impact any of the pricing, quality or creative direction?

I'd say yes to everything...a little of everything...thats my take on it. No one but the parties involved really know though...we're just speculating

Anybody have any idea what type of merger/acquisition this is, what Tempus Arte is all about, and what this may mean for the future of Stowa?

hoping this provides stowa the resources to implement their own in-house movement now :) would certainly bring the brand upmarket.

I posted some company info here: Stowa company is sold

Page 2
I found the same info online and that’s about all there is. I’m curious if anybody knows any more about them and what they might do with the brand. I really hope they don’t mess up a good thing and try to mass market Stowa by making things “more efficient” at the expense of quality. Stowa is known for high quality and great customer service. If either of those suffer it will lose its differentiating value. Crossing my fingers on this one.

I guess this means prices will soon start going up?
After digesting the news for a while .. I feel it really depends on the future strategy of the company. I have seen a very niche German company back in late 90s, expanded their reach to many markets thru local retailers . That pushed up the prices quite a bit.

I really hope not. Stowa at one time provided a great value for watches (I'd argue they still do, but prices have almost doubled in 10 years). Going upmarket does nothing but hurt entry level prospective watch owners. There is nothing wrong with ETA or Sellita movements for a watch at this price point. Going in house will just double or triple the price of the watch.
