Are you actually planning to buy a company? Or a watch?

Or if you buy "value", are you shopping for entry level models or the high end? I bet Tag has the highest value tourbillon in the high end brand world. Nobody comes even close and I don't know if Oris even makes one.

If you are shopping in the quartz / entry level, whatever floats your boat. High end brands are generally very bad value.
They don't. Most brands don't. Rolex does not have a tourbillon. Oris generally operates in the $2-6K range, and a tourbillon would cost well more than that. The $19,000 18K gold GMT was an extremely rare exception for them.

ORIS is Omega level quality and their watches run within COSC standards. ORIS is the best watch for the money. I own a Tag and I would rate it lower than Tissot. Check out the performance of my two Aquis.

Wow.... Lower than a Tissot? Bro that's below the belt LOL.....

Honestly these comments have got me strongly questioning my desire to buy an Aquaracer. Seriously second guessing myself now!

Straight garbage. Wife gave me a cal. 6 F1 and it has been to LVMH twice and to a local watchmaker an additional time. I wouldn't buy a Tag at half price.
Interesting because this post (when I put it on Facebook) had several similar complaints about the Formula line in general.

Oris 100% of the time, any time despite not liking their pricing policy, charging so much for an entry level SW200-1. Oris also has pretty poor resale value/value retention.

However, in my opinion, Tag is just far worse, I see them as the DW and MVMT of mechanical watches, plenty of marketing, low on value.
Yup. I've noticed. Buy an Oris 400 for 4k and the second you walk away with it, it's value has depreciated to 2k.

Oris for me. The Oris Propilot X is fire 🔥 as the kids say. The Big crown is pretty cool too.

I do like the new Tag Heuer Chronograph buts it's a throw back to Heuer. I'm also a fan of the Monaco but the version with only Heuer on the dial.
My next Oris is gonna be a ProPilot fo' sho'

Oris for me. After handling both, the Oris Aquis is better built. I also like the design and how it wears better. Oris is an "under the radar" watch that usually only us watch guys know about. Not a lot of dollars put into marketing. No real frills.

Tag to me comes off more "flashy." Tag goes in so many different directions (quartz, mechanical, smart watch, affordable pieces, more expensive pieces). I feel like Tag, because of name recognition, is very similar to Rolex in that it has that name that appeals to the masses (a lot more non-watchuseek than actual us watch guys). A couple of my friends and some of my customers own Tags, and none of them have any real interest in watches other than to have a luxury product they can occasionally wear on their wrists. My impression I've gotten from some Tag wearers is that it's a substitute for a Rolex without paying high price premiums (not my personal opnion but the impressions I've received from others). I'm not a Tag hater (or Rolex as I own some) but that's just my general impression of the brand based on my personal experiences. I am sure it varies by location and there's a good chance I will own a Tag one day.

I'm happy to see that there is still some love for Tag. I like more offerings from them than Oris as a few others have said but Oris now has a forum darling status while Tag gets the hate. I would be surprised if it is not 75/25 in favor of Oris when it is all said and done. People are going crazy over these new movements even though the price keeps creeping up to Omega/Tudor $ level.

What I'll give to both brands is that they tend to release original designs and not homages. Both the aquis and aquaracer try to stand out and are absolutely not trying to be a sub like 90% of other divers out there.

I see them as fairly different, so it's hard to compare the relative value for dollars paid. Oris will resoundingly win your poll because the brand is more popular, perceived as more authentic, among watch nerds. Tag has more appeal to consumers and the public generally, the brand is more well-recognized, and their use of relatively generic movements a lot of the time, for the price they charge, turns some people off.

Each brand makes nice watches. because they're both usually more than I like to spend, i'm more likely to buy a quartz aquaracer than any Oris watch.

I know the Chinese will replicate anything (including an Oris) but at least the likelihood of buying an Oris Rep off of someone is far less likely than a Tag. I honestly don't know if I would ever buy a Tag off of eBay for that very reason. Far too many horror stories.

For me, Oris probably makes “better” watches on paper, at least in terms of their ordinary lineup and based on the things only we idiots of WUS care about.

But Tag Heuer makes better looking watches, and that’s more important. I’m fast, Tag makes some of the best looking watches, which are so handsome I am willing to excuse their ordinary movements and inflated prices (that nobody has to pay anyways because you can always get a discount).

On that basis, a tag is just a better buy because watches are a beauty contest first and foremost.
