Funny... I was recently tempted by a watch* I promised myself I would buy if it ever came up. But no, pass.

I have some "watch money" (used to be moto(rcycle)-money, or bicycle cash stash) saved, and was considering a few different watches as possibilities. Two of them on my "endgame collection" list. Meaning, there is no grail, but I have in my mind a list of 6-8 watches I'd like to end up with before checking out of WUS on the regular. And one insane bargain on a watch I've been side-eyeing forever.

Does not help that watch manufacturers keep making interesting new watches, either...

But ya know... I just don't feel like I need to purchase another watch at the moment. Have plenty, more than I can wear in a comfortable weekly rotation, including some favorites which dominate the scene. And I have a few mods in process, mainly 2-3 different watches getting undone and repurposed.

The two I'd really like are both white/offwhite dials, one a dressier hand-wind vintage watch, and one very much a tool watch reissue by a company that's been in the game for a while. But... I don't really need the dressier watch for dressy occasions, and I have a watch I built which duplicates the function of the other for a fraction of the price.

Hard to justify a purchase, just now.

So I'm sitting tight at the moment.

Not at all. It's an admission that there will likely never be a one-watch for me, that I prefer a collection of watches, and that if/when I decide to get out, I have a list of watches I might like to end up with.

Two on my list, already at hand: Tudor BB36 and Sinn 656. A few more yet to buy. Since those represent 2021 and 2022 purchases, and considering how late we are in the year, no harm waiting a few months or longer for a 2023 Big Purchase.

I will say that a Helson Sharkdiver 38mm in Ti is always tempting, too...

Anyone on WPAC snag a Swatch x Omega MoonSwatch? Would like to pick one up but all I'm seeing are counterfeits. Swatch seems to be running a gorilla marketing campaign for a unicorn product. Not that I blame them. It's garnering lots of publicity.
I was mildly interested, but then all the hype, queues, limited supply and ebay scalping turned me off.....

....fakes?

Was slightly interested when they launched but I went off them faster than my cat eating a cat treat.

I imagine I could snag one from the local Swatch store. It was supposed to get them from the very beginning. But it was just too much branding for me, possibly too big, a bit pricey to just "buy it and try it," and now I've seen a handful of posts about them breaking. I don't know if the broken ones are outliers or what, but the most tempted I got was out of pure contrarianism when WUS was at its most frenzied panic about their existence. Now I barely think about them at all.

I will probably be getting a raise and at some point a promotion at work. I'm relieved that going through the drudgery of being employed below my qualifications might soon pay off. At least it wasn't being overworked and taken advantage of.

Anyway, what watch should I buy to celebrate and which Tudor should it be?

The people that spent well over $1000 on one in the beginning must feel stupid.
It was definitely a hype thing.
I think the going rate for one, now, is $350?

The other one I'm seeing very much overrepresented is the "Robin's Egg Blue (NOT Tiffany!)" Monta Noble. Looks like either the color was not all that to a bunch of buyers, or they just didn't appreciate in price on the secondary market, as perhaps expected...

Wonder how much worse the fakes are, considering the real thing is already pretty bad.

Bet those won't dye your skin though!
There's a slew of sub $200 Chinese knock offs available and would venture to guess lots of secondary offerings (eBay) aren't genuine. You can only buy in a Swatch retail store. I'd pick up a Mission to Saturn on a lark but no stores in L.A.
