Good evening gents. I've spent quite some time thinking on what I actually should say. First of all, my name is Andrew. I am 17 years old and I started collecting watches last year at the end of July. After dealing with a lot of beginner mistakes, I've collected these 11 watches. I am looking forward for your comments on it, and if you are kind enough, strap ideas for some of them. Regards.

Not at ALL what I imagined by the thread name! I imagine a few of those are hand wind. I have two older hand winds. A Timex and a Westclox. A couple of automatics. And a bunch of quartz. The Timex has a worn and Small crown. And no quick date. And the minute hand isn't always where it should be. Can't beat quartz for accuracy.

Awesome collection! I just graduated high school; turn 18 tomorrow actually. I too just recently started collecting! I have a Fossil, Vostok, and a Seiko 5. It's nice to see another high school aged collector on here :)

Awesome to hear from you! Happy birthday for tomorrow!! Have fun collecting! Vostok and Seiko 5 were my first choices in the starting months. I unfortunately traded my Seiko 5 months ago. Actually I am looking for a golden watch, and I saw some from Seiko that look great! Enjoy!

Actually all the watches except the Seiko are hand wind watches! I chose that type of movement because I enjoy older and finer things in general, and I do wear blazers, pants, shirts and ties almost frequently! Quartz are definitely the best for accuracy! I had to get my watches adjusted plenty of times until I got them to work at a -7s/+12s per day. Enjoy collecting further!

Aye incoming college freshman here! Actually in exam week of summer classes. I too started collecting almost two years ago but mostly modern, my luck with vintage mechanicals isn't that great - in the process of trading two currently because I can't get them serviced. That being said probably trading for a (serviced and working this time!) Accutron Spaceview and I adore my CCCP Komandirskie that I de-chromed. Love the buren, the lollipop hand on the hosam, the square oris looks fantastic, and the Kienzle (?) seems to be in impeccable condition! I'd look at Portuguese Cork straps for interesting affordable straps that work well with vintages. Also maybe this thread would work better in the vintage forum but who am I to say. Keep it up!

Thanks! And I have the Seiko SNZH57. steel case with a black dial and golden hands/indices. I love it. You may too if you're looking for something Seiko with gold!

Also 17 here, really cool collection you have. I especially like the Russian ones you have. My collection is basically all newer watches, a Seiko SNZH69 which took forever for me to find (and I overpaid for it, but I love it) and a Timex T49905. I also bought a strange looking Luch from Belarus.

I put a plain tan leather IW Suisse strap on my Seiko, and you'd be surprised how versatile it could be.

Good luck with your collection!

As a fellow young collector (turning 19 later this month), I'd say it's a great collection! Your collection has admittedly changed my view on vintage watches.

Nowadays I am on a hunt for Multi-Year Calendar watches, I in fact have an Orient Multi-Year in the post box. What's the model of the Raketa Multi-Year you have gotten in your collection?

Here's my family picture (minus the Orient waiting for me in the PO Box :-():

That Raketa with large numbers, picture 10, is really cool. You need to get a lightly colored canvas strap for it, which you dirty up properly before fitting.

Never thought of putting a canvas strap, especially one that has a lot of colours in it. Thanks for the idea!

That Buren looks great! I'd put it on a perlon strap for that vintage look.
Actually I bought it with the original Perlon strap, in grey. I used it for some time, then I said that it is way to used to be useable. I will keep it, of course. I still like the idea of a Perlon strap for that watch, but I don't know where I can find one in my country (Eastern Europe, Romania).

First of all, it kind of bugged me where to post this thread. Vintage would have worked just fine, but there are a lot of people there who expect to see mainly Omega's, vintage Patek's and things like that. I looked for quite some time for a NOS Komandirskie, and when I had a great deal (10$ bucks, NOS and with original strap), I've passed on it and all the time I think about it. Thank you for the strap suggestion. Haven't even thought of those straps. Thank you for your kind reply and for checking the thread! Good luck for your exams!

That Luch is one uncommon model. Great find! About overpaying, it is not that bad of an idea. After all, you liking the watch so much so you do not think at all about the money spent on it, says a lot about what it means to you. Thank you for the strap suggestion! Enjoy your watches!
