The look of the 5500 just doesn't quite do it for me, so I would probably not buy any of them. However, design 2 gets my vote...that I can handle.

Myself, I used to underestimate this range before: on pictures and on shelves all 5500s always looked to me a little bit bulky but now I am falling in love with the design more and more. IMHO, on the wrist in real life they look extremely cool. I would say that now I prefer 5500 to 5600. Just give them a try on you wrist and you'll feel the difference.

Yes; pretty much what I've narrowed down to, even though I get tempted by different models/designs.

I do agree that the new color combos are odd, and I haven't found another color scheme that I like, hence why I've only stuck with the anniversary model GW-5525a:

IMO the only one I really liked was the first re-issue the G-5500-1JF that I am wearing right now (in between two originals here :) . Cheers-Ronbo

Actually you can always buy this one, it looks great!

Enough joking, I was actually planning to buy the black version with pink buttons pretty soon. I don't see what's wrong with the color, but I think I can have bright colors.

Casio had released several great looking G(W)-5500's in black with red, black or gray buttons. I pretty much like the GW-5525A model, as shown by K42, but this model will be a little bit hard to find now.

Cheers,

Sjors

I'm am brand new to the G-shock extravaganza! I just baught two of these clunky wrist Bridgestones, Good Years, take you pick of truck tire references. That said, I'm still not big on all digitals, but who knows where this addiction will lead.

If I had to choose one of these watches, I would choose the pink and here's why:

1 - I think the red buttons look like a toy. The red face, with black buttons isn't bad, but...

2 - Why pink? I'm looking at this as perhaps a tactical watch and although some will yell that pink is easily seen, a sleeve or glove can easily hid the watch until the wearer must view/operate the watch and that's where the bright pink could come in handy. BUttons are easy to see. Also, should the watch become dislodged from the user, it would be a lot easier to spot on the ground. Perhaps the band is broken at that point, but at least the watch can be found and used if still operating.

I say pink if the watch is for any survival situation, where the person, or the buttons need to easily recognized.
