So the other weekend I was at the auction where I bought 13 pocket watches. A mix of Howard 16 and 12 size. Elgin 19j BWR 16s. 7 jewel 18s elgin, 19j and 21 Jewel 16s Hampdens....etc. I decided to part with the lot in my usual way to pay for other watches and repairs....all but one.

This one 19j Howard....I just could not let go of it. I am a sucker for jeweled barrels. I decided to give it a once over tonight. Upon stripping it down I was surprised by the level of decoration in places one would never see. This is the 2 sides of the pillar plate.

It's not perfect....but it is an example of the straight bridge series 5 that were built by Waltham I believe.
