I've had my eye on a harbormaster for about 7 years now and finally put in my down payment. This will be a special watch for me as it will commemorate my 10 year wedding anniversary. Frank over at Hentschel has been a pleasure to work with.

I went with the Harbormaster as I love the offwhite dial with the blue hands. It also has a very unique case design. Since each watch is made to order, you have a bunch of options which Frank has walked me through. I'm still up in the air if I should go with a custom engraving on the case back or not. This isn't going to be a watch that will leave my collection so I'm not worried about resale value.

IF you've got a Hentschel, post them up in this thread.

Here are some stock photos of the watch I've gone with:

I have been thinking about a Hentschel H2 with white dial for many years. I love the shape of the case and hope to order one later this year. How was the ordering process?

Pretty good. Just corresponded over email and working with Frank was great. Kinda hard to drop that much cash without seeing or trying it on but I’ve heard people say the same and be thrilled with the watch. Put 50% down and will pay the other 50% upon completion.

Cuz I could...
This is the Hamburg Botschafter cuz I wanted the bronze. You can still get some info on it; I think it's still avaiable...BUT only on the German-language pages. So I'm not quite sure what the exact state is there.

If I personally wanted a steel...I'd lean towards the H2 Sport. The bezel markings make it interesting and move it, IMO, squarely into a true GADA. Mind,I'm splitting hairs. :) They're differing in details but all the versions execute those quite nicely.

Every time I see this watch I think...
  • how cool those hands and crown are
  • how it looks a lot bigger than 34mm

Very nice, the bronze alloy Hentschel uses has a very alluring colour. Is it as patina resistant as they say on the website?

Yes, it's very resistant to patina.

My personal favorite would be perlon here. Eulit's got new weaves, with some new colors. A matte navy blue or black actually is quite discreet.

Option 2...Staib milanese mesh. I have no doubt it'll look great.

I with thinking JB Forstner. Either the rivet (though the endlinks look really thick) or the beads of rice:

IIRC, I've heard good things about the Forstners too. I like milanese for much easier adjustment, and my feeling is, in summer heat, it's a bit more comfortable. But that's me.

I think the narrower links would look dressier, and therefore more appropriate for the H2. And, as you say, there's more points for those links to adjust to your wrist.

Curious about how the case with its domed shape of the H2 sits on the wrist. I have a 6.25 inch wrist and the 38.5 seems to be a good fit. I have a Dornbluth Quintus that is thicker than the H2 but the size is just right.

I'm dying to see pictures when your watch arrives. Hentschel designs are spectacular and the model you've selected is gorgeous. I've owned Stowa and Dornbluth which have a similar deck watch design, and nearly bought a Cornehl which was very beautiful. I hope it works well on your large wrist.

It's here!! I only have a crappy iPhone to take some pictures so the pictures DO NOT do this watch justice. I think I have finally found "the one" watch for me. The off white/cream dial with the blue hands, domed crystal with thin steel case, subdial at 6. This is my perfect watch. I don't know why I waited so long to buy one.

My spec'd watch included:

Two straps (calf and allegator)
A two watch travel case
Photo journal of the watch being created (this is really neat)
Service booklet for tracking the service
A massive glossy black watch box.
Custom engraved caseback.

Congratulations.

Definitely an excellent candidate for The One Watch, for any white-collar type. Not SO dressy that it can't be worn shopping, but stylish and classy enough for formal occasions.

Outstanding! Congrats. Hentschel really captures the beauty of minimalism in design, possibly better than anyone else. Their combination of font, blued hands (of perfect length), and bezel width - all done in perfect size and harmony - makes this one of the best looking watches I've ever seen.

Congratulations on something very special. I have spent so much time on the HENTSCHEL site analyzing and comparing. They are definitely on my short list. I love what they do and how they do it.

Was it really only 2-3 months from order to receiving the watch? For some reason I thought there was more of lead time.
