Thinking of Buying a G-SHOCK GW-B5600-2

I have been looking for a square lately because I would like a nice g shock to fit comfortably beneath my sleeve when hiking in the winter(I have a King, gas 100, ga 700, all a bit too bulky when hiking in layers). Nothing really grabbed my attention until I saw a G-SHOCK GW-B5600-2 last night. I find the blue on the dial striking and the negative extremely legible. I am thinking about purchasing it, but I am kind of on the fence because I feel like the extra costs are for features I am not sure I will really use (blue tooth, multiband, the app which I have read mixed reviews about on a thread here, etc). I guess my question is do you find the extra features useful? Does the bluetooth connection drain the battery significantly? What is your overall impression of the watch?

cant really comment on features, heaps of my watches have features i never use, alot with multiband that i CANT use too. if you were to buy it, youre mostly paying for the look since theres no others that currently look like it so basically youll be settling for something less/not quite what youre after if you go for a consolation prize.

i dont normally go for squares and im not a fan of blingy but i have to agree, seeing this model in person it certainly is an eye catcher. the blue really pops but not in a blinging way, more so a deep liquid kind of way, its very cool to see in kind of ripple as light moves across it. if i come acorss one for the right price i may very well consider it

The screen is not that legible. Just got my all black on bracelet and the screen is just as all other negative diplays. At some angles it pops, in other it's hardly visible.
I have to say I am disappointed with the bracelet as well and think the watch would be better on the rubber strap.
I love the screen layout though and the vintage inspired alarm and Hourly Chime symbol

I am heading down to look at it again. I actually did not like the bracelet, so I did not go with the black, plus I like the look of the blue one. I agree on the vintage look, but I already have a stealth. Yours looks sharp! Visibility wise, yeah I know what you mean, but it felt significantly better than my king and gas 100. But either way I am going to take a look again here in a bit and see what I think.

Whoops, forgot to post a pic on my own thread. So yes, I bought it. It is gorgeous and I just love how the blue ignites in the light. I already immediately synced it to my phone without incident and I have been experimenting with the different functions available through it. I like the reminder function and feel like that is something practical I will use (although I hate that I need the app to check the battery life).
After taking a second look tonight, I found that the legibility really did not seem to be anything spectacular. The negatives always look so much better in the display case and then you get them out and...meh. But it is not bad either. I would say it is more legible than my King, but mainly because the King reflects so much damn light that the time is constantly getting obscured. To be honest, I am really not that picky about it. I can read it without a problem so that is all that really matters. Either way, I added a comparison photo.

Is the resin soft like gw5000 or stiffer like gwm5610?

So if you are looking for a comfortable G to wear under a shirt. Look at the G-Shock GW-M500 or GW-M530. These watches hug the wrist and work under the sleeve(I am wearing mine after layering up for an early winter.

This watch is atomic and solar and has easy to read numbers

Plus they can be had for less then $90 new.

Also look at the GW-M5610 as it is a atomic solar square watch that looks classic and it under $110 new

I love me my gold one. I also dig the new combi bracelet, which they've designed to look like the bracelets on the metal squares.

One more observation, the bezel is not regular matte black but somewhere in between the 35th anniversary velvety black and regular one.
I really dig it.
Also to those who are thinking about buying it, postpone it for a few weeks as it will most likely be the watch I'll be giving away when I reach 20K subs

My AD texted me this pic this morning of new stock they received today...

Given that G-Shock Australia website by the Australian distributor doesn't even show these models on it I wasn't even expecting anything apart the standard resin one, let alone the combi one to be available

I have been collection mechanical and quartz watches for many years. I recently purchased a Casio 5600 that has solar and multi-band 6 synchronization and am quite satisfied with it. I really like the look of the model 5600 and want to add the bluetooth version to my collection. I live in Orange County California (Southern California, Irvine area) and would like to see that watches prior to purchase so that I can compare the different color versions. Does anyone have a recommendation as to where I can see these watches and how much I am likely to pay? My apologies if these types of questions are not permitted on the forum. Thanks.

Does anyone else wish the blue came on the bracelet?

The all black is cool, but not quite what I want right now.

Hi everyone!

This is my first G-Shock with the blue-tooth technology and I was wondering if any one had been having issues with it? I am trying to test out the phone finder application but even with it directly on the table next to me I can't get it to work.

Other than that this watch is absolutely awesome. It has the normal issues with visibility that negative displays have but its lighter than my DW5600E and its strap is a lot softer.

The new Combi is an upgrade from the original. Look is much more integrated with the head, and the black color is now “through” all the resin links, which means scratches won’t reveal shiny unpainted metal beneath like the original Combi connector links would. Another plus is it’s all stealth matte, whereas the original was an odd, alternating mix of semi-gloss and stamped crosshatch patterns; neither of which are compatible with the watches it came supplied with. I wore the original for many years, but gave it away the day I received the new version. No comparison.

That's a heck of an endorsement. I have GW-B5600HR-1 coming on Monday from Amazon. I saw the blacked out model with the combi bracelet at Dillard's the other week and was surprised with how good it felt draped over there wrist. And then I found the thread dedicated to GW-B5600HR-1... The red accents look really good. I'm just hoping it sizes well to my 6.5 inch wrist.
