Wow these look very tempting, but what does replica tongji movement mean?

Some of these retro Chinese watches would be neat to have if they’d just lay off all the red banner, red star etc communist crap and just come up with some normal names(which I know for Chinese watch companies is asking a lot).

I'm reminded of the remark that I've seen a few times on the forums along the lines that "Orient make a nice watch but the name is a deal-breaker for me because it sounds Asian and cheap. They should change it."

 

I can't believe you guys are arguing about the names here. The dials have the red star of the communist regimes on it. Tens of millions of people left dead in this symbols wake, and the discussion is about the name.

It would be interesting to see the reaction if the dial had a swastika on it, but had a strange name like "Blort".

But there's more that I find appealing, including this blue dial gem at under $100 bucks.

I think these are great looking from a design sense. What is your impression of the quality of the movement (etc)?

Looks pretty nice from what I can see from the video.

Honestly, I think these new $100 tongji watches that seemed to be of decent quality is what the market needs.

 

The $100 one looks nice. Though 40mm is a bit contemporary for what I’d say should be a vintage style watch. Also dunno about the movement, pretty sure you can get such tongji watches for <$50
