I don't know what stage of WIS you are in, but I think most of us have been through a stage when we had a sizeable collection. Then, one day we woke up and realized we only had two hands and we only wore a few of our watches. You do what makes you happy, but I would consolidate and figure out what are the must have and what are expendable.

Absolutely this. I'd pare down this collection to 4-5. Sell off the rest and put it toward something higher end. In my first few years of being into watches, I was convinced that I wanted everything. Now that I'm years in, what Pneuma says above is 100% spot on. I'm happier with a handful of great watches I love than I would be with 2 dozen watches that are all "neat".

I think of it like learning to play guitar. When you start out, you may think it's incredible when people can play 1000 notes a second. When you learn more and get better, it much more impressive when someone can do more with 5 notes in 30 seconds.

I think you need more Oris watches in your collection ;) look forward to seeing pics!

Are you looking to add numbers, consolidate/reduce numbers, trade up, trade down?
Hi,

I willnconfess that i do love Oris. Moreover, have to agreed that i need to size down the collection. Actually trying to consolidate, sell and/or trade a few watches.

You should collect what makes you happy. And by the look of things that's Oris. |>
Short answer: Oris's Lover!

My first automatic watch was the Oris BC3. I met the brand with that one, then fall in love with the Aquis.

I do agreed, lately been using just a few 6 o 7 o them, and got to little wriat time of the others. Thats why ive decides to look the way to size down.

Well, you’ll have a sizeable budget if you sell off down to 6 or 7. Keep your favourite 5 of the current collection and then maybe look at what you could get in the Omega, Tudor, Breitling, Rolex ranges with the proceeds if selling the remainder. Also look at some of the Germans - Nomos, maybe even Glashutte Original?

Nice collection for sure, but I would trade up some of your mid tier watches and move up in quality a bit. You have so many oris, hamiltons etc that you could sell half of them and get a nice seamaster, speedy, or like an oyster perpetual/datejust or even a grand seiko. You'd still be able to have plenty of your original collection as well. Just my opinion.

My collection was in a similar position to yours not very long ago and I recently made the decision to start reducing the collection down and having fewer higher end pieces. Like some others have said it brought me greater joy to wear a few pieces more frequently than many so infrequently. It has also saved me from constantly needing to be winding up and resetting watches as well. Either way the best advice is to buy and wear what makes you happy!

Collect what you dig. If it's all Oris watches, that's awesome. No one else's opinion matters.

That said, if you want to pair down, I would suggest wearing your watches for the next 30 days or so, as you normally would. Wear whatever strikes your fancy on that day, no different than you do now. Write down which watches you wore on what day. Doesn't really matter what else you wore, where you were going, whether it was formal or the office or kicking it, just write down what watch you wore that day. The five to seven watches you wore the most you should keep. Don't worry about resale value. Don't worry whether you should keep a dress, a diver, a chrono, an everyday three-hander, don't worry about any of that. Just keep the five to seven watches you wore most often. Doesn't matter if it's six divers and a chrono, or whatever. My experience in a similar situation is that I tried to fill slots -- a dress formal slot, a diver slot, a chrono slot, an office slot -- I ended up getting rid of watches I wore alot and regret selling and keeping watches I didn't wear that much.

BTW, I am digging the JeanRichard.

Hi,

Good idea i could try that. Anyway i have an idea of which are my keepers (basically all the Oris).

About the JR it is a wonderful watch. It comes with a black rugger strap, but i replace it with the natural leather color and it look amazing.

Since you clearly and specifically asked for advice--here's my two cents. Cut the current collection WAY down, to maybe three Oris (your clear favorite), one Hamilton and the Ball....and that's about it? If you need something new, look for something a bit more higher end to fill in the gap, just a piece or two--and quit there. And, get rid of your signature--more than a bit pretentious, and dominates your whole screen every time you post.
