Did anyone else ever have a Timex Atlantis? One of my all-time favorite watches.

And there used to be a steel version of the Ironman until the early 90's.
Can you repost the pic please? I have never seen or heard of a Timex Ironman/Atlantis till date which had a steel case - all of them were resin cases with metallic paint! I might be mistaken here, but again, historical data about Timex watches is very scarce as opposed to Casio's.

Taken from the internet:

It comes up every now and then on eBay. Its a vintage model so the first one to go are the lettering on the black plastic face guard. Sometimes, that plastic face guard gets damaged and chipped or even gets lost - pretty much like the DW-1000 from roughly the same era.

Here is mine. I have owned it for more than 30 years. I purchased it when I was in the Army and Ironman watches were all the rage. Wore it for PT and in the field. It is very light.

Also mine has a white lite that illuminates the dial when you press the button. The whole dial does not light up like the newer ones.

Wish it was a little bigger.

Personally I loved the original Atlantis, but I don't know how much appeal it would have if they remade it again in the all-steel case. It was pretty heavy for just being a simple digital watch. But I do think they could improve upon the plastic model, not just in case design but in overall operations.

Original is not that heavy and full SS with screw back screams that damn special.
Casio moved a lot of steel squares not because they new module with BT and solar but because it's stainless steel screwback.
As easy as this.
New one needs bigger buttons and get rid of stupid green thingy which makes it dim in majority of situations.
I have bunch of them and without green light stealing background they much better.
Crystal is a scratch magnet because it domed so going flat would be also nice.
There was expedition of similar arrangement and (again) questionable button choice.
I love Atlantis for it's simplicity and it had all things you may need in very slim package. Which was awesome for work watch.
But buttons are like nails.

They did 8 lap steel ironman for 1999 anniversary. Not the best years in terms of quality but it was solid watch. One of unicorn Timex models. They had 0 issues sticking existing module into steel case. Atlantis de facto is modified standard Timex module and in current iteration the only thing which is special is LCD but that hardly a problem. Rest they can source from any "classic" expedition or Ironaman. Would be a nice watch for 150$.

Re issue would of made a lot of sense since Atlantis is one of the "signature" Timex models of the past.

i got a new one arrived today to replace a damaged atlantis. the new ones say expedition on the dial where atlantis used to be. and on the strap side with the buckle it obviously doesn't say atlantis either its just blank. other than that it is identical to the older atlantis.

its a great watch, i personally like the green screen. has larger numbers than gshock and much slimmer. although it is certainly more fragile. hopefully this one keeps great time like the old atlantis. just set it.

I have a 1980's steel cased model. For a few years i wore it on a rubber strap from newer year indiglo Atlantis that I got in a bag of watches (the watch was dead and would not revive with a new battery). It recently broke so it is on a expansion bracelet until I get a replacement strap.

The first pic is the Atlantis on the rubber strap. The 2nd one is with it on a expansion bracelet next to a Seiko e-ink watch and a pre Ironman Triathlon that I got a few days before at a thrift store and had not yet replaced the battery

My Amazon Warehouse repackaged deal arrived yesterday. I replaced the absolute horrible OEM strap with a more comfortable strap from a older Atlantis. The Mode button, which is round and small, has to be pressed extremely hard to activate. I removed the module from the case and gently bent out the clip that the Mode button presses against. After I did that the Mode button is a little easier to activate but it still sucks.
