I figure since there is an Expedition Appreciation thread that there should also be an Ironman thread too. I picked this one up the other day on a whim, it is a Timex Ironman T5K198.

Ironman appreciation #2
Here are my both trusty running watches. I must have had them for 10 years now, using them several times every week. They've both survived three battery changes and still going strong, still looking fairly new even. (I don't know about WR, never hops in in water with one of these). The black one got a bit famous back in the day during the financial crises when secretary Henry Paulson was seen wearing one on several occasions.
He sounds like a smart man.

I think this is the first post I have done on my ironman.
It is my gym watch and morning alarm and as such gets more regular use than a lot of my other watches.
It has survived a lot of sweat, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs and pools.
I tried it's identical predecessor as a surf watch but it drowned sadly in its first session out.
That said I am sure if this one kicks the bucket I will be getting another one. Solid little watches for active use.

I agree 100%.
Though Timex has a bunch of new case designs (with the same movement) this classic actually works better.
It really is a fundamentally sound design all the way through.
I always chuckle when I have to take off some "proper" watch and put my Ironman.

I picked up this exact model during the Holiday's for $8 from WalMart. It's a great knockabout yard work watch.

That's $8 very well spent. I am sure I spent much more than that!

Took the Rugged 30 Orange camo for a session of photos in the front yard.

Another keeper that is just gorgeous.

7 years old.
2nd battery.
Worn 2-5 times per week.

Used it today on the ride to work - 8 way points.
Used it at work for mix-time, cure-time, clean-time and time-worked-per-part cost calculations.
Got another 8 way points on the return trip.

What other watch could I use?

(modified: button's call-out ink removed from bezel)

Nice pics Wolfsatz, I only have the one negative. Not impossible to see but a touch harder than positive.

Thanks to you guys, I'm looking for an original Timex Ironman 8 lapper. Very cheap used, but I'm feeling like I need to get a new one. Time to liquidate!

wow, had no idea there was such variety in this line. I've only got the one below as I wear it just for running. I seldom take pics of it, but perhaps this thread will remind me to do so more often, :)
most recent pic:

(with Altra Escalante)

and an older one (about 54 weeks before the above--which is why the dates are inconsistent between the two pics)

(with Brooks Ghost 8)
