Hi All
I wanted to introduce myself to the forum and ask a question, despite being a member for a while now and just not having much free time to get online.
I am a watch enthusiast as much as I spend far too much time looking at them, reading about them and talking about them to just about whoever will listen. In the last couple of years I have started taking the cheap old watches I had stuffed in the drawers at home, taking them apart, cleaning them up and sometimes miraculously getting them going again. Over time friends and colleagues have asked me too change battery's and do some light cleanups, which I have done conservatively and often with a great deal of research before anything I take on, but also knowing my limits.
Recently I acquired at a very reasonable price, another Tissot V8 Chronograph, this time with a leather strap. It was in pretty good condition generally but the printed bezel insert was badly scratched and the case itself had quite a lot of desk dive scratches.
I found a thread through the Forum here and sourced a genuine Tissot replacement, took the old bezel off which was easier than expected and gave the case a little clean up.
However, when it came to fitting the new bezel I came unstuck. I started by applying pressure with my hands hoping to hear a pop and the bezel clicking into place, but no! it could never be that easy! I then started searching the web, doing the research and came across an old feed here of a guy that had upgraded a Tissot V8 and changed the bezel but unfortunately there was no description of how he actually managed to fit the bezel. I noticed that someone else had asked the question but with no response.
Not wanting to warp or damage either the bezel or case I took the watch to a local and very respected watchmaker who tried to 'press' the bezel into place with no luck, which brings me here. The bezel is fixed and does not rotate and is also a pretty tight fit by the looks of it but I am out of ideas on how to get it on.
I would be very grateful for any ideas you may have and thanks for reading my thread
Dave
