Wondering about everyone's take on Bill releasing the Paradive under the TR label...

It looks like a bog standard RTW MKII Paradive with a small logo change?

TR-50717 (Paradive) Type I Class B

The Paradive Class B watch is Tornek-Rayville’s second dive watch, following the previously released TR-660. The Paradive is our evolution on the military watch specification MIL-W-50717. In response to a survey of end users, we identified issues and weak points with the first generation contract watches and set out to create an updated version that could thrive under challenging environments.

A missed opportunity to develop his own design in what he thinks the next TR would have been. Sorry, but it's definitely not a paradive which is based off the Benrus. I was pretty excited for this brand but this is a bit of a let down..

I'm no hater. I own the TR 660 and have owned the paradive for many years.

Just read the email, and it is a bit weird that they have done this with a watch that was preordered under the MKII name and now we who preordered are kind of not getting what was ordered, in regards to the branding. I’ll be honest I really don’t care but don’t think this was good form. Looking forward to getting the watch and hopefully the TR I preordered as well. Question though, it seems Homages to American watches will carry the Tornek name, but what other dives watches have an American origin and military history?

It’s the same watch, I preordered the MKII Paradive but will be getting the Tornek branded watch instead only the logo has changed.

First off I was letting the poster know that all specs of the watch are the same but its just the brand that is different. Second, MKII and Tornek are in the same league so not a fair comparison with Porsche and VW. Third, I think folks have a right to be upset as I stated in another post that this was not good form. Me personally I do not care, is it weird, yes, do I think those who ordered the MKII should get an MKII, yes. But again me personally It doesnt matter, at the end of the day it is a homage watch, if the brand bothered me I would have gotten the reissue from Benrus.

I was surprised... Thought about it at length...

I already have two Gen 1 Paradives, and photos of both the "Black" and the "standard" one are around here...in numerous places. ;)

In reflection, I am glad that this one will be "different" - (I ordered primarily because of the green lume.)

With consideration of the Gen 1 features, I can't say that the Gen 3 is "the same watch" - I was glad the helium release valve went missing, but somewhat sorry to see the Swiss-made movement go missing too. And hoping that Gen 3 might lose some weight, and maybe get a little thinner.

So, I don't mind at all about the change.

I am glad to see MKII and Tornek-Rayville continuing to "evolve" - I'm Wishing "Most Success" to Bill and MKII.

"Now, if he would just see fit to offer a few with titanium cases...."

Carry On, Folks. (y)(y)

I am slightly disappointed that the logo will not be MKII. I sold a Paradive once and regret it so this was an opportunity to replace it. However, it's not that big of a deal.

I wonder what Bill's strategy is. Maybe Tornek-Rayville for ready to wear models and MKII for benchcrafted?

Or maybe TR for his versions of American mil-spec watches? It seems to me that might make sense with the origin of the TR company.

I’m trying to imagine how we’d all react if the resurrected Benrus brand introduced an homage to the TR-900... So in that sense, I do wonder whether this move dilutes the T-R brand.

I feel that MkII as a brand has much more of a link to this design, having been a champion of it for so many years. The sterile dial of the original has always, to me, made it the most homage-friendly design that MkII has pursued.

My feelings are the same. I owned a Paradive and ultimately regretted selling it. This was my chance to replace it. Like you mentioned, it's not that big of a deal in the end though and I am still going to go through with the pre-order. Now just to decide which configuration...

Just put in my final payment/ order for the Paradive, the wait begins went with the divers bezel and date dial, since it would have had a ghost date position anyway figured might as well have the date.

I received my watch. I love it. I don't like how Mk II handled the process and name change. Basically, I paid for half of the watch 19 months ago and got a jacket that I didn't want and can't seem to resell on eBay. When the second and final payment was due, we get a name change and then more delays and finally, I get my watch after PDW releases their PDW/TR collab. I guess that my original understanding of when the watch would have been ready to ship was really off.
