Thanks! I’m wondering if the Pelagos 39 wears smaller than the FXD.

I feel like the FXD is very very slightly too large

It does, the FXD L to L is 52 when it's 47 on the 39 pelagos. That's a very significant difference. I too do think the FXD wears too large for me.
