I want some concrete information on the Raketa (Paketa) 24 hour watches so that I (and anyone else) can safely buy one.
I know that the Raketa made many variations.
[1] Date of Manufacture: What times were they produced and what was the last year of their production? I think we can break them into 2 categories, USSR and post-USSR.
Were the 2-crown models available before 1-crown models?
[2] 2-crown vs 1-crown: What are the things to spot to see if they're frankens? Is it more likely that 2-crown watches are less likely to be franken? When I say franken, I mean that the hand or dials were repainted, and maybe the movement is wrong.
[3] Dials: What colors, text, images on the watches are signs of frankens? Are the yellow dial ones franken?
[4] Movements: I have seen 2609 and 2626 movements on the watches. I have also heard that the bridge (I assume that is the part with the movement number on it) can be interchanged. Can I assume that its highly unlikely that someone tries to convert a 12 hour movement to 24 hours? What other things can I notice other than movement number? Are there any other movements that are used?
[5] Crowns, Cases, Hands, Crystals: What are the common ones? I have seen that single crown watches have a certain case, like this:
Most hands are simple and usually black or white. I have seen hands painted white very poorly, also.
What kind of crowns are used? I saw Cylinder, flat end and also more round versions.
The crystals used also varied especially since I saw the "fish-bowl".
I'd like to put a guide together with all the info I get. I know USSRtime is also a good reference but it is limited. Any answers to the above sections are welcome. Thanks
