Is Tudor Diet Rolex

Tudor is just Diet Rolex

I was chatting with a friend, and of course we discussed time pieces, the obvious subject of Rolex vs. Omega came up (we happen to love both, and have pieces from both brands), but somehow he asked me about the Pelagos.
I know the history of Tudor, but it is not a brand that I have bought before (the Harrods looks very cool, would I buy it? No.) so I said ‘hmm not sure never had it on wrist…’
To which his response was ‘I don’t blame you, Tudor is just a diet Rolex.’
I do see the similarity in case and dial designs…and of course the history behind Tudor, but where do you stand on Tudor, is it a diet Rolex? Or is it its own brand with its own style, and history?

Gossamer, that’s a fancy word. You sound like a fancy guy with fancy taste. Lol. Btw I read your original post before you edited fragile to gossamer. I think fragile was fine.
I’ll be sure to let you know when I start shopping around for a new editor.
I saw "gossamer ego" and thought, "Oooh, good one." I may borrow it some time. I was going to say something then , but didn't want to appear, "ass-kissy". Anyway, pearls before swine and all that.

Someone can explain me why some people hate tudor? Never got it...
Insecurity. Pretentiousness.
Tudor watches should go on a diet, have you seen how thick they are? I still love them, but would prefer if they were thinner like my Rolexes, without having to go the route of the BB58 with the case diameter that is a bit too small for my taste for a watch with a rotating bezel.
Sign me up for diet Rolex, because who doesn't want a girl who watches her waist line?

In in all seriousness, I think Tudor is more in line with what Rolex used to be. Contrast the Pelagos and the Sub. The Tudor is all tool watch, while the sub is using white gold on the indicis and hands. For a "tool watch" this is silly and likely done to justify the high prices and make people feel exclusive in the process.
You do realize Rolex has been using white gold surrounds and hands since as early as the 5513 Submariner eh? Were they not "tool watches" back then?
The Pelagos 39 and Black Bay Pro were two of the most well-received releases last year.
Don't forget the Pelagos FXD 🔥🔥🔥

Do you think Rolex is more of a luxury watch or a tool watch?

The Pelagos FXD as well.
What is with all the dumpster fires over Rolex in the last couple of days??? My goodness.

Personally?
I treat this more like a tool watch,

and this more like a luxury watch.

YMMV.☺

It is what you think it is. I don't think it is.
Can't believe I made it in before this thread was locked 🤣

I saw that exact same Pelagos in person a few days ago and it really left an imprint. I regret not trying it on.

Few questions: someone earlier on thread mentioned they thought it was uncomfortable on wrist, I'm assuming you disagree? What size wrist are you for comparison purposes. Thanks in advance.

I voted this thread title is up for Clickbait of the Week award.

I think Tudor presents a well-made watch at a decent value.

Completely agree. I am always surprised at those who take their time to respond to posts on watchuseek only to add an overly negative, and often times degrading, comment or advise that a topic has already been discussed.
I think it’s because of their gossamer egos maybe 😜
It’s all good really. I think when people really like or love something, a criticism (or something they view as criticism) seems like an attack on them personally. Shouldn’t be perceived that way, we are more than a watch brand or a type of time piece.
