Hey, I was looking at Seiko's USA website and the SRP775 was shown as "sold out" and I went on both Macy's and Kohls' websites and they showed the 777 for sale, but the 775 has been removed from both. I think someone also posted a pic of a Seiko Fall 2019 catalogue they got from an AD and that didn't show the SRP775 either. Are they discontinued, or are they just pulling them out of the US market for some reason? Or is it something else?

The SRP775 is not in the fall 2019 Catalog that I was given but the Seiko rep, could not tell me if that meant that it was being discontinued or not. He is usually in the know as he told me about the discontinuing of the SKX173 and SKXA35 and it turned out to be true.

However if it is true, I am not mourning the loss of the SRP775 as i never liked the gold colors on that watch

When were those SKX's discontinued? Just wondering how long ago it was. I only started collecting last year.

I remember someone saying, at least a year ago, that the initial 4 Turtles were discontinued. there was some *surprised pikachu face* reactions, but i don't know if it was rumor or fact or whatever.

i usually never believe a watch is really discontinued until it seems a year later they really are gone. we've all been told the SKX was cancelled every year for the past 10 years and people are still saying it as hard as ever-- and this time it was supposed to be for real-- but there are still 2019 SKX's being produced, with an updated caseback; they are 007B or 007P or something. the rabbit hole just goes to infinity on that one...

That was me, here's the thread: Seiko discontinuing Turtles SRP 773 - 775 - 777 - 779

The statement from that dealer, which I referenced, is still on his site, which I linked to in #1 in that thread and in #4 I explained, why there is sufficient credibility to that dealer and for me to post his info, because I typically don't spread just some rumour.

The SRP775 is not in the fall 2019 Catalog that I was given but the Seiko rep...
It is also gone from the website of Seiko Germany.

In my opinion it is the best looking turtle of them all. Mine will never be sold.
It was always clear to me, that if Seiko were to discontinue them, they would start with the SRP775. 'They' always take away the best things first. ;-)

Cheers!

This is exactly why I got one last week. I've seen prices for them creep up recently and they've been conspicuously disappearing from sites. I wasn't going to be caught out on this one, if in fact it was discontinued. The all gold one is nice, but the 775 is nicer. I got a store display model with microscratches on the caseback, but the alignment is perfect and it keeps wonderful time.

If I could change one thing about it, I'd personally make the dial text a touch brighter. But otherwise it's perfect. Love the vintage feel.

It's the last Turtle I want to get. I got bit by the Turtle bug with the STO Great White. Then I needed a PADI because the Turtle feels better on my wrist and I really like the looks of my 009. But PADI better. And of course the Nemo Monster has to be replaced with a SRPC95 and now I find the SRP775 along with a two tone Strapcode to be my next addition. Might have to sell the 009 to help fund one of these.

Here's what I heard. I heard the K model has been trucking on uninterrupted. It's the J model they had to pull back on. They know people expect a higher level of QA and finishing on the J models and they were falling below expectations. So they had to regroup on the J model to bring it back up to "Made in Japan" standards.

discontinued clearly seems to have different definitions or contexts to different people, especially on the internet. i personally would not call a watch "discontinued" until that model number/look ceases to be sold by stock from vendors due to manufacturing ceasing, therefore no more are being made/added to marketplace.

so if Seiko is STILL making the 775 in any form, i personally, won't consider it discontinued. Same with the SKX. if the K and J are stopped, that can be a thing, but the B or P or whatever is still coming? i would not call that discontinued.

that's just me. but it seems part of the issue here is people having different meanings for discontinued.

Bernd has said all along that the information indicated that it was discontinued in some regions . Which includes portions of Europe. Which now includes the US. Which is why I (in the US) have seen prices on them tick up in places recently, and why I got one while I could. If it's being discontinued in certain regions, that means it's on its way out in terms of availability. Prices will go up on them in the coming months.

How does one access this database?

Also, as was mentioned, this is for USA AD distribution. It's possible it's still available through other channels, which let's be honest, is how most of us get these anyway.

And for Germany.

And for the Netherlands as known from my infamous thread about Seiko discontinuing some Turtles.

And probably for other regions where users here and in the other thread mentioned, that their dealer and even a Seiko-rep stated the same or where it has vanished from Seiko's and or dealer's websites, but those users didn't mention the location.

It's happening widespread.

Cheers!

I would like to know what's happening here, though. So, first the 777 pushed only to Japan(?) and now the 775 being phased out. Presumably the others being phased out too, with distributors and dealers saying so. Yet Seiko is still coming out with the limited editions. The Jade green model was just announced. The Save The Oceans (originals) being phased out, but the Great White edition is still going for now as a Limited Edition. I assume the all gold SRPC44 is still being produced as well.

Is this going to be their strategy on the Turtle going forward? Quarterly (or every 6 months) special releases with a special "Limited" model each year?

I don't understand what you're saying here?

The SRP777 is an international reference number, and would not be sold as such in JDM. There they sell it as the SBDY015.

Also, I can still buy one direct from the Seiko USA website... not that I'd want to.
