If you could start an ultimate watch collection, what watches would be in it? If money and scarcity didn't matter. I guess I'll make the first selection with the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms.

Well, some of the more outrageous models don't really interest me.

But here's my realistic ultimate watch collection: ALS Saxonia, PP Calatrava, VC Patrimony, Breitling Navitimer, Rolex Submariner, Rolex Datejust, Grand Seiko, Breguet Marine, Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Chronometer, and Panerai (any of the simpler models would do).

So far, I've 3 out of 10, and I'm working on the 4th.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Grande Complication and Jaeger LeCoultre Gyrotourbillon I would be among my top 10!

The best from PP, JLC, VC, AP, AL&S, GP and Richard Mille and other independents such as F.P.Journe, etc...
Complications are cool, but I really like platinum!

I've always thought the ultimate watch collection would be small with a watch for each "category"
These are the ones that excite me:

1. Formal - Nomos Zurich
2. Casual - IWC Portuguese
3. Diver- Bremont Supermarine
4. Movement- Ananta Spring Drive Chronograph
5. Prestige- ALS Lange 1

And, just because I think it has a ridiculously cool case, I would throw in a Linde Werdelin SpidoSpeed or SpidoLite

Lange 1
PP Jumbo Nat.
VC Overseas chrono
JLC Polaris
Rolex Deep Sea
BP FF 300m
Glashutte Orginal Sport Evo Panorama date
GP Seahawk 3000m
AP Royal Oak crono (panda rosa gold)
Seiko MM 600m SD (must have a beater;-))

10 watches would do in a ultimate world:-d

I would add GO Senator Moonphase (his and hers) to the list.

Ideally, I'd be happy if I had the ALS Saxonia in black and white, matching GO Senator Moonphase, and a Rolex Submariner. I wouldn't want another watch. :)

Rolex submariner

Hamilton
Omega ploprof
Doxa sub
Rolex milgauss
Raymond weil

I could come up with a lot. But I would be satisfied with the submariner for life.

Wow, I was going to come in and say an original 1983 G-Shock DW-5000C, but everybody else is too busy enjoying the imaginary money for stuff like that.

I'll play-

1. A Lange & Sohne Homage to F.A. Lange 1815 Moonphase
2. A Lange & Sohne Datograph
3. A Lange & Sohne Lange1 Time Zone
4. Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15300
5. Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Skeleton 15305
6. IWC Big Pilot
7. IWC Portuguese Automatic 7day
8. JLC Reverso Grande Date
9. JLC Master Compressor Geographic
10. Glashutte Original Senator Chronometer
11. Longines Legend Diver w/ date

... I think that is it! My ultimate collection.

Ultimate Watch Collection = State of Mind

for me, it would be dive watches, GMT's and chronographs. I'm lucky to have all three complications and some dressier pieces. I'm pretty happy with what I have currently.

Dive-Bremont Supermarine,Omega Seamaster GMT,Kalmar H2O,Doxa.
Dress-Seiko Premier Automatic,JLC Compressor Geographic
Hiking-Tissot T-touch
Chrono-George J. Von Burg Sport ,Sinn Military SS Chrono
Daily Beater-Seiko Professional Diver( I don't know what they make them from but I've had a couple different seiko divers and I think that is the most durable watch ever, in a nut shell they can take some beating big time.)
