Hello all,

I'm thinking about applying a treatment to my band, the same one that is on CARRERA CALIBRE 1887AUTOMATIC CHRONOGRAPHSpace X43 mm Silver Leather bracelet | TAG Heuer

While I haven't been able to find a more specific description of the band other than "'vintage' brown leather", I think it may be nubuck leather. Can someone more familiar with the types of leather confirm?

I don't mind if the band gets a little darker, I just want to protect it from sweat/water/etc. Has anyone had experience with different types of protectors and more specifically, with a similar style of leather?

I have two types of protector on-hand:

The first is silicone-based and the second isn't clearly labeled. I would be willing to buy a different product if you all had a better suggestion.

I use Bick's 4 on the top side and food grade silicone spray on the bottom side.

To update those interested, I used the Kiwi Protect-All to great success with no discoloration or ill effects. I did not try the other products mentioned.

The problem with nubuck leather is that it will darken considerably with most waterproofing treatments. Kiwi Protect-All has minimal effect on the color, but I don't think it's a particularly effective treatment for true water proofing.

Although I've never used it on a nubuck strap, I have used NikWax Nubuck & Suede Proof waterproofer on nubuck boots and shoes, and it's fantastic... very effective and long lasting, with minimal impact on color. It might be worth trying out on your strap.
