Recently got this watch (for 250 UKP) but now realize that it is ripp off :

- am I right in thinking that the second's hand is missing ?
- Has the watch been re-cased ?
- is the movement complete in in any way remarkable ?

All comments welcome !

I'm assuming that's supposed to be a LeCoultre Cal 819, which is the sweep second version of the 818 (bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements: LeCoultre 818). Like most sweep-second variations of subsecond designs, I suspect there's supposed to be an additional wheel that sits above the plates and interacts with a seconds pinion. The seconds pinion is held "down" by the spring you can see on the barrel bridge. I'm assuming the additional wheel is supposed to sit in the hole we can just barely see in the pillar plate beside the third wheel. I'd say you got ripped.

Yes it is missing the sweep seconds hand, sweep seconds arbour/ pinion and the driving wheel
which sits on the extended arbour of the third wheel.
It looks like a small movement fitted to a large case with crudely made large spacer to make a ladies
movement fit a man size case.
