Dear friends of the cultivated madness,

even though it is still some time until the purchase, I am once again on the search for an “ultimate macho” diving watch: large, heavy and “indestructible”.
In this case, that means at least 42, better 44 or more millimeters of case diameter, the watch should be present on the wrist, and it should also be able to take a beating – or at least give that impression. ;)
Filigree bling-bling dress diver stuff is not desired, it should be a watch for “real guys”.
Nevertheless, it should not be too thick, despite the dimensions and mass, everyday usability is expected, a metal bracelet is mandatory, as well as classic dial colors and a mechanical movement. An independent design, if necessary a little off the mainstream is an advantage.
Only German or Swiss manufacturers are desired, and here also only established brands and no microbrands.
The budget for the watch is ± 3.500,00 Euro (4.000,00 US Dollar | 3.000,00 Pound Sterling), a second hand purchase is possible and maybe even desired.

My shortlist already includes (in alphabetical order):
  • Doxa Sub 1200T Professional NUMA

  • Doxa Sub 1200T Professional Project Aware
Watch Analog watch Silver Clock Watch accessory

  • Favre-Leuba Raider Harpoon
Water Flash photography Asphalt Bottle cap Font

  • IWC Aquatimer Automatic

  • Linde Werdelin Biformeter

Here again the requirements for my future “Macho-Diver” in summary:
  • diver’s watch
  • at least 42 mm case diameter
  • heavy
  • bracelet
  • three-hand and date, no other complications, no quartz
  • height maximum 18 mm
  • classic dial colors (black, blue, silver)
  • NO microbrand, only manufacturer from Germany or Switzerland
  • budget around € 3,500.00 ($ 4,000.00 | £ 3,000.00), preowned welcome
I am very curious about your further suggestions.

If you want something more than than just cosmetic scratch protection, something that can actually get smacked about and still run properly, and won't be affected by magnetic fields, I'd check out Ball as others have mentioned. The engineer Engineer Hydrocarbon Original 43mm has:

Amortiser® patented anti-shock system,
SpringLOCK® patented hairspring anti-shock system,
SpringSEAL® patented regulator anti-shock system,
Antimagnetic 80,000 A/m

I would have suggested a different 42mm Swiss made automatic diver that can handle a 3 meter drop, is 33,500 A/m, 200m, but you said no micros...
