I am sorry if this has been discussed before; however, my searches did not come up complete. I have a watch with a Valjoux 23, I think, and it runs fast. I need to have it serviced. I am in New England [however, that shouldn't matter], is there any recommendation for a reputable watchmaker that can service my watch?

looks like you are not certain about the movement.
Have you tried to demagnetize the watch? Magnetized watches often run fast. Buy a $15 demag unit from amazon & try that before sending for service.

This is a good suggestion and could save you more $$$ if you try demagnetizing it first, prior to sending it to a pro, IMHO.

Good luck.
