Does anyone know of cheaper alternatives to watches that have the "main" dial as a smaller subdial within the case? Preferably if it also shows the inside of the movement. I've found a couple but they were all on the pricier side, for example Glashutte, Greubel Forsey and Maurice Lacroix. The latter was the cheapest one but still around 7000 dollars.

Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Gravity 2021 for reference;

Wow the Christopher Ward looks great, I like the absence of logos on it. Wish I had the money for it but still nice to see what is out there. The Epos is kind of all over the place with the different fonts and engravings. Thanks for the response!

If you don't mind an added quartz movement, the Fossil Twist could be a very affordable option. The quartz movement drives the main dial, but an independent automatic movement is there for some entertainment around it.. ;)

Hmm, not sure how I feel about the automatic movement for entertainment purposes hahaha. It is also enormous at 50mm, why is it so large? :unsure:

Oh, Stühling makes a couple, too, using a Chinese double balance movement to mimic the look of the Breguet Tradition.
Does the double balance in the Stuhrling actually have any effect or is it for show? I read up on double balance since I didn't know much about it and it seems intricate. If anyone else is interested to read about it I found this article Hodinkee Two Balances

Oh, and Christopher Ward just opened the pre-orders for the 2023 Bel Canto. Pretty amazing for a watch under 4k€.

I generally can’t stand there watches but was unaware of this one and like it. Nice they don’t have the ever changing logo blemishing the dial too. Have to keep my eye on this one

I know you're not looking for this, but just for reference, there's a large thread on these kinds of watches - mostly all high-end - here:

I have often wondered why this particular dial configuration is generally indicative of high-end watches, or at least those aspiring to look high-end.
I can think of a couple possible reasons... not sure if they're correct though.

1) The unique movement requirements to move the gears around to put the hands any place other than the center. Most watches using more standard movements would naturally have the hands in the middle. High-end brands make more unique/custom movements.

2) That kind of style doesn't sell as readily, and more mainstream brands may focus on higher selling more mainstream watches
