Pushing your watch's buttons under water, under water with pressure and under high water pressure... What's the risk if it exists?

The risk is water in your watch. I have used all my G-Shocks and pressed buttons under water. This however is at around 10 metres depth max.

I would not want to be at 200m's and trying this.

From what I have heard, Casio used to state that this was OK, but on the later models they recommend that you don't operate buttons under water.

The "air divers" and "divers 200m" watches like the frogman are the exceptions I believe.

A frequently asked question, and the most common answer is that it's not a problem.

Casio has taken to being rather conservative on the matter, presumably to counter possible claims relating to rare and unexpected occurrences.

Good question i was actually wondering the same myself today, so what is the answer? my mudman looks like it would be ok as the buttons have a cover over, but i didnt think something like the frogman would be with just the little silver buttons showing with no seal over them even though it has a diving background.

The covers over the Mudman's buttons have nothing to do with water resistance. The button's water resistance comes from seals around the stems. From previous discussions it seems it's okay to operate buttons underwater, as long as the gaskets aren't old and worn/damaged.

i have used the buttons of my old WR50m casio at the bottom of the pool with no side effect. (ok, the strap broke later and i had to replace them, but i am sure it got nothing to do with using the bottons underwater .. LOL :-d)

i even wouldn't worry about using the buttons at wR200m (not likely that i would have the chance to :-d), as long as the seals are in good condition and it has been pressure tested.

casio stated that WR200m casio can be operated underwater. it is what it is. they didn't say: "WR200m casios can be operated underwater up to [certain] depth"

Actually, the Frogman is the least likely to be affected by pushing buttons underwater, as it is (to my knowledge) the only ISO rated G in existence. And as lex said, the buttons over the top of the Mudman buttons don't have anything to do with water resistance.
