As far as fashion trends, they come and go, in the 80's with the swatch craze you could wear them in your ankle (girls but I also remember some dudes doin so) many up your arms, one on each wrist (the Hayek's did it) you might get the odd look, but who cares, wear your watch as it makes you happy, keep it on a bracelet, put it on a strap, be leather, rubber, nato, whatever tickles your fancy...cheers
Wearing a watch on both wrists? Good thing that's not in still anymore, most of us go broke for our one dreamed about watch.

Hi, had to join up having seen this thread as I've been wearing a watch around my ankle for a few years now :) Not something I do all the time, I started doing it only when I had a lot of typing to do at work. My favourite watch is a gold Krug-Baumen Charlston, but it tends to clatter on my desk and keyboard when typing. I like the way it drapes on my wrist when I'm not typing so don't want to shorten the bracelet, so on days when I knew I'd be stuck at my keyboard all day I started to wear it around my ankle and I have to say it feels really nice and I love the way it looks!

I confess I stole the idea from my home-ec teacher at school, on food prep days she would always put her watch around her ankle as she said she would always forget it if she put it in a draw. I always thought it looked really cute and did try it for myself, but never had a watch that would fit then. Now I have four! The last one I bought was a gold tank style, which I fitted an extra long black leather strap to, which if anything is a little too long.

it occurs to me that of course you would have to match the watch with your shoes ! it is a historical fact when Imelda MARCOS was overthrown they found 3000 watches stored in a basement ! Boutique Retail Shoe store
the pic according to the caption shows Imelda trying to match up some Jimmy Chews with her incoming g shock

Got some more for ya!

I actually bought two watch/bracelet sets on eBay for a bit of fun and made my self an ankle watch and ankle bracelet set out of them :)

Another eBay bargain, easily adjustable bracelet so is equally comfortable around my wrist or ankle.

For a bit of fun, my newest ankle watch. Could have chosen something better than these leggings though :-s

Unless you are double jointed how do you read the time? And in any case how do you do it demurely? Or am I missing the point?

Nigel
If she wears it facing inwards, all she has to do is cross her legs and she can see the time ;)

TO OP: Definately go with a NATO or Zulu, you'll never have to worry about the watch fitting... and i think its closer to the look your trying to achieve as opposed to like a rubber dive strap (which will also be long enough)...

if i may take it a bit further... i would love to see an ankle shot of a Vostok Amphibia (or the likes) on a NATO ;)

HA: this thread made me laugh. On a serious note, you can get strap extenders made so you can wear it on your wrist and then on your leg/ankle. Go to a custom strap maker and tell them what you want. (they used to issue strap extenders with the origianl Flieger watches) Come to think of it you'd look good with a pilot down there, I mean a pilot watch that is.....LOL back at ya!
