Does anyone know what factors contribute to battery life in quartz watches? Nowadays, I see some watches that advertise 10 year battery life, others with 7 years, and yet others with 3 years, etc. And it's not just a matter of functions; some of the 3 year watches are simple time-and-date analogs. Is it mainly the quality of the battery? Or are some movements more power-efficient than others?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Long life movements usually use lithium batteries, which have an extremely long life. (10 years or more)

Standard movements use silver oxide batteries.
