My best guess would be the sunrise 6139.

 

not the rarest, but not easy to find either - '69, 6119's- but most have replacements parts, esp bezel

 

I have all original similar watch(including the coffin bracelet). We call this model as rally diver. One of my favorites.

 

Sounds a bit like asking for the rarest Volkswagen Golf or Toyota Camry model

Among the modern Seiko 5s, I believe the yellow-dialed SBSA193 is one of the rarest having been sold only in Japan and limited to 300 pieces.

 

SBSA145 was also limited to 300 pcs.

 

SKZ205 40th Anniversary Limited Edition Titanium Diver. 2005 pieces made. Don't see that many titanium 5's, let alone a legit Diver's 200 in the Seiko 5 range.

How about this ti Atlas? Don't see many around although Seiko made 3000 of 'em.

 

Only seiko ever made with two rotating bezels. Definitely up there with the rarer seiko 5's.

 

Maybe the rarest is something with a 5126 movement? They only made that movement for two years and it was JDM

I think it's worth noting that there are some that might be rarer than others, but are less desirable to collectors. For example the 6139 sunrise shown on my earlier post is highly desirable due to the popularity of the 6139-600*'s and the many varieties that exist. Many collectors aim for a full set with all the variations, and an original sunrise is like hen's teeth, so they demand stupid money.

 

As above, this one stolen from me in a burglary by an Asian burglar, months later I recovered my laptop and he left a trail of sites he had been to for the following day, hence viewed "You Tube" videos showed his origins. A jewellery specialist, a hint of gold and he took it, plus numerous items including my first Seiko, this one. My watch has a bumped upper corner, just a slight nick from a concrete driveway fall.
