Hi again! I just want to let you know that the owner of this piece (friend) has received an offer of 3,500 EIROS for this so called "Junk". (from a european collector)
It seems that is the first flightmaster prototype, there are quite a few and definitely 3,500 euros is a low value for it! Amazing!! Before the owner got the information i was going to buy it for 2,500 USD
what do you think?

I would say that the claim that this is the first flightmaster prototype needs some corroborating data.... don't you think?

Its a bit odd that the prototype consists of a beaten-up Railmaster with the words flightmaster etched on the back. What was this prototype supposed to type? The spelling of "flightmaster"?

How well do you know this friend who wants to sell you the watch?

Hi, Joe in fact the one who offer 3500 euros is a well known italian specialist in omega vintages (as far as i know he has direct contact with the omega museum). On the other hand, searching on the webb i found two mails from people describing the same watch and of course they were told that this was a franken watch. So I could say that the dial and case back at least are original from omega!

Personally, I would want to see some sort of documentation from Omega themselves stating this is a prototype and not through some third party expert. This is especially true when the example in question makes no sense from a design process POV. So this collector has direct contact with the museum ? So what.... these are the same experts that authenticated a fake RN SM300.....My 2c.

I would want to check with the museum before spending any money on this.
The dial looks original with a feasible script for Flightmaster. If the dial is genuine, then the whole watch is plausible.
The Railmaster itself was based on a revived RAF model and was used by several air forces around the world.
The bezel has an Omega feel to it, but different from the early seamaster models, with markers for each minutes.
The second hand tail looks a bit strange for a Railmaster.
Interesting concept, if real, a full 10 years before the released Flightmaster.

Yes maybe you are right Joe, however if i had the watch and someone want to pay 3500 EU , i ´d sell it, I can imagine that if he want the watch he could have some information we do´nt have!! anyway i ´d like to explore in this issue of the Flightmaster/ railmaster!

Could be that he has information we do not know of. It would be great if that information was made public |>

Yeah, I'm sure I'd like to see it.

I have to admit, when I first looked at this dial, it looked pretty convincing. I'm sure that Omega's done a lot of things that we don't know about, but still, this one just doesn't add up.

My guess is this well known european buyer is taking a rather modest risk on a long shot. Considering the bigger picture, I can't imagine how many multiples of 3500 euros this would be worth, if it somehow was proven authentic.
