The seller of this vintage Constellation claims the bezel is solid 14K gold and the caseback is S/S. However, I notice the backs of the lugs are also S/S. So what is this case really made of?

Stainless steel with gold cap.
So, is the "gold cap" like 40 or 80 microns, or something altogether different? Judging from the backside view of the lugs, the gold looks closer to one millimeter (1000 microns) than it does to 80 microns.:think:

Yes, it is much thicker than gold plate or filled.

The caption says it's solid gold. However the case letters "BA" are different from the "CD" for this watch. Unfortunately, the lettering key on page 23 does not show a "CD." :-s
